sadly, I don't think Brian is in tune with what the fans want.

sure, some average joes (including a group of fans) want to see a concert where it says "Queen" on the ticket, pretty much regardless of who's on stage.

had the fans been in charge though, I'm sure unreleased material, unheard live releases, and even the WWRY sequel would be on top of the list of what they wanted.[/QUOTE]

I don't really care who they tour with so long as they tour and as an obviously "average Joe fan" of 30 years I'd much rather see them live with a crap singer than a fucking musical they don't even play in.
Although, I'd also like them to release a shit load of archive Queen recordings as well before I die.

Yeah Brian & Rog should cut the crap with Adam Lambert and look after the ardent Queen fans
and get some decent stuff released starting with 70s concerts and archive stuff unreleased.
Brian & Rog could have released an album together, they dont need any vocalist as they are pretty good singers
themselves, so there is a few ideas.
Come on guys drop the Lambert walk, and start doing something worthwhile!

Yeah they could have replaced Tim Staffle with another Bass player and recorded a Smile album and never formed Queen.

Things change through time and most people don't stand still, they move with it.

A lot of guys on this thread seem to be in favour that like me, Mr, Lambert is not wanted!
Bri & Rog are hard working guys but some of the choices they make leave a lot to be desired!
PITTREK is spot on when he said people want bri and rog to tour with lambert but they are in a minority.
soooooooooooooooo most like myself are correct for not accepting this silly tour.
Anyway why would i want to see them now, ive seen Queen in all its glory with the famous pizza oven
lighting rig, superb!

Surely it won't be long now before Brian and Roger stop touring and doing any live gigs. They aren't getting any younger - hopefully this new album will be released at the end of this year but I fear that the 'mission creep' will kick in when they view their uncoming tour in the US as successful and either extend the tour or work with Lambert on a more permanent basis. The Cosmos Rocks 2 anyone??

Well I might not have seen the Pizza Oven but I saw Fly swatters, MK Bowl, Flying Nun and Knebworth. And when I've seen them since either individually or together or in ventures such as with Kerry Ellis they've not failed to delight. So I would look forward to the chance to see them (again) with Adam Lambert. The last time wasn't so shabby.

EDWOOD: you hit the nail on the head, as i have been saying this on other threads about Brian has sneaked Lambert in on a permanent
basis but not dare tell the Queen fans, as i am sure he knows we are all hacked off with Lambert and his crappy stage presence.
As you rightfully said May & Taylor are not getting any younger so why are they wasting so much time with this wan**r?
They could be so much more productive and get involved with more worthwhile projects in Queens interests, i know they want to capture a new audience in the states and fair enough but this crappy set up with Lambert does look permanent and that will see Queen to the end if Brian or Roger fell seriously ill.

"It's because people want it".

Just throw in a definite article, and Brian sounds like an unworldly dictator clinging on to office as El Presidente - "It's because the people want it".

It's also a load of bunk. He does it because HE wants to, and HE wants the money. "People" don't come into the picture except as drones to buy tickets. Who are the people who "want it"? Does he give a damn? I think not.

Not sure I'd agree with this. At his age, point in career and bank balance I don't believe money is the driving force. The chance of doing something that you enjoy would probably be motivation enough. I think if the reason for this tour had been to increase BM's or RT's bank balance the size of the production would be smaller and not so elaborate. Touring costs are huge, that's not to say money won't be made but if they really wanted to, a lot more money could go into their pockets.

It's become clear Brian needs the validation of big crowds and lots of publicity. He judges success by sales figures rather than artistic merit. That's why we haven't see any rarities aside from the bonus material on the Universal releases, which anyway was Universal's idea and not his. So I agree he's not doing it directly for the money but he still craves the fame and publicity. As for artistic merit, I suppose we'll have to stick with the pre-1991 (or in my case, pre 1981) releases.

It definitely adds up. I'm sure he's a fan of money and all that, but like the average insecure artist he's going for the quantitative measurements to stave off the qualitative criticisms.

This upcoming unheard Freddie stuff, for instance - it could be great, but I'm not using Brian's quotes as a basis for guessing on how great it'll all be. He said the Dappy stuff was great. He said there'd be epic tracks on TCR.

His word cannot be trusted. 'nuff said. Wait and see I spose.
