Just pondering over some planned Queen karaoke, and I started to think to 'what tracks have odd structures'? Obviously Bohemian Rhapsody is one - I mean, look at it. It's not verse-chorus-verse at all. It's acapella-ballad-solo-opera-heavy bit-outro. Roger has cited the ballad part as 'the verses' before, but I don't think you can put it into terms like that. I know Want It All goes intro (0:00-0:21), verse (0:21-0:52), chorus (0:52-1:13), verse (1:13-1:44), chorus (1:44-2:07), bridge (2:07-2:27), solo (2:27-2:57), verse (2:57-3:10), and then the refrain goes on - but that's my first attempt at breaking a Queen track down like that. Plus I picked what I believe was a simple one from that standpoint.

We Will Rock You. Just the idea of building a with no instruments on it until the Guitar solo at the end. I still remember buying WATC and playing the B side it just sounded so different to everything. I think now it has grown into the sub consciousness of our culture so we are no longer aware of how different it originally sounded. Although apart frombthe guitar solo at the end it is a conventional verse, chorus verse chorus etc.

We Will Rock You? That's maybe an unusual arrangement, not an unusual song structure......structurally, that songs about as simple as Queen ever got (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, outro/solo)....is kind of odd tho, how there's actually NO instruments but one guitar! :)
Under Pressure would be a pretty good example.....a song with an unexpected structure that was actually a HUGE hit!
And 'outro solo' sounds like the name of a Mexican wrestler or something......:p

I would've thought that the Freddie version of 'There Must Be More to Life' would be unexpected also, it has no chorus or break, and barely a middle eight from what I gleam. Any thoughts on deconstructing that one?
