There are far, far, far worse films than those around. Take the Hitchcock-rip off Lifepod (1993) for instance. That's got to be the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's not nearly the worst movie ever made. I think it might be better to just keep silent on the subject, for fear of stirring up some truly evil Demons of Badness...
how about a gorgeous lead who walks around naked for huge chunks of the film...posing as some weird alien?
i would like to present before the court exhibit A....i ask that the jury retire to consider their verdict.
the movie in question? - "Species"
...the prosecution rests

Any film directed by Baz Luhrmann...
So I'll go with
1. Moulin Rouge
2. Romeo+Juliet
3. The Great Gatsby
I've seen movies so bad they are good, but Luhrmann's films are so bad that they go past being good, come full circle and become bad again.

Just including world-famous Hollywood blockbusters
I don't know if those would be the worst films ever, but definitely the most disappointing as the expectations were high before they came out. Except for Transformers or any Michael Bay film. Those movies are based on just blowing shit up for the sake of it.

Good choices!
Having seen 2 2/3 of those films... Yeah ... they're pretty crappy.
I only viewed the luhrmann Gatsby because for some strange reason I thought Martin Scorsese was attached to it. (Big mistake)
Modern (and shitty at that) music attached to a period film.
Eh. The rest wasn't so appalling but it was like a cartoon. Also very little speculation and issues with Gatsby.... mainly focused on the opulence

3) Showgirls
Quite. How many films not only bomb at the box office, but kill a whole film classification? I believe an attempt was made to re-market it in the 'so bad it's good' category, but this failed, probably due to there being genuinely nothing good about it in any way. Except the scene in the swimming pool, which of course was always brilliant.
The other two, for me,
1) Braveheart
2) I never saw anything by Mel Gibson again on the back of 'Braveheart' but I'd be willing to bet the one about Jesus was pretty awful. However, as I never saw it... number 2) would have to be 'Sweet Home Alabama'. Romantic Comedy isn't my favourite genre, but even so, I expect to be able to go to see a mainstream movie and not vomit.

I hate Braveheart with a passion. It is actually not a bad film, but I am so brassed off with Scottish touristy shops having tea-towels that have William Wallace on it, but it's actually Mel Gibson. There are so many fuckwits out there that believe that Mel Gibson is one of the (if not THE) biggest figures of Scottish history.

Showgirls really isn't that bad.
So #1 the dialogue is bad,
#2 the characters (with the exception of the clothing designer/assistant aren't likeable
#3 it shows a seedy style of life in an unforgiving manner
But 4. That's exactly how things ARE... las Vegas is a dump town filled with hookers, users, compulsive gamblers, whores looking to cash in, whores who think they're the next pop star, gullible tourists and well. ... Just trash.
Hardly any of those Showgirls can be expected to be geniuses. Truly most strippers edge toward the DUMB part or at the very least opportunistic.
I found the conversation to be accurate having been in a few bands, run a business catering to bands and been around prominent artists involved with after shows, dancers etc.
Of course the character mispronounces things and OVER ACTS when doing her thing. ... she's a whore.
Even the backstage scene with one of the dancers' two kids being there while everyone is topless is classic. It shows the ugly side of a cheap ugly town.
For people who don't touch base with THAT Grim reality and only visit for the shows may not know.
Just drive a few blocks off the strip and take a walk. ..lol.. I dare u.
It IS trash. But it IS entertaining. It does have an intended purpose even though it's clouded with nc-17 spread shots etc.
But hey. ... I ain't complaining about that. The only plot element of little consequence was the up and coming wannabe choreographer who represented that phony opportunistic duplicitous kind. Some dramatic attempts fell by the wayside due to deemphasis.
The previous poster is right though. ... It WAS rereleased with an audio commentary by a drag queen? fan, in a box set that featured drinking games and shot glasses and a "pin the pasties" on the stripper poster.
Also came with a deck of cards.
I still think it's better than a film like Beyond the Valley Of the Dolls that's always held in high esteem.
Geez this week I defended Showgirls and One Year of Love.

Braveheart is one of my favourite Sunday movies, along with Barry Lyndon. Mel Gibson is strange, though.

Barry Lyndon... it would have been great if Ryan O'Neil hadn't been in it. Mel Gibson would have made a much better lead. So beautifully filmed, so woefully miscast.

1. Pirates of Carribean 1 (Because Johnny Depp can't act at all, and that's just one of my reasons) 2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Depp again, and Tim Burton's remake shit on Roald Dahl's grave) 3. Avatar (It didn't deserve the hype at all, and is the prime example of viewers turning into sheep)

And that's counting The Stranglers Of Bombay!
I don't know the history very well, but it's an entertaining movie ... and it's just funny to watch Mel Gibson playing a young man ('cuz he's not) trying to impress the girl(s).
