Their version of We Are The Champions was horrible. Even when I have to admit I liked some of Brian's new guitar bits. But anyway I'd like to hear the rest of the stuff they recorded just for the curiosity factor

Williams has no where near the vocal range that it would take to tour with Queen. He's a great showman when live, but not a great singer.
In full honesty - Freddie was a great showman but not a great singer on tour quite a lot of the time. Wembley '86 is a great example.
Leiden 86 says hello. One of the worst qualities of Queen was record an inapropiate gig of the tour, or maybe they were nervous BECAUSE they were recording the gig.

But some things are Queen fault, party hard the night before the iconic gig wasn't a good idea, fight with the director of the movie in Canada wasn't a good idea... again.

Don't properly record Budokan 75, and don't film Sao Paulo 81 and Knebworth 86 were definitly bad ideas. Add the lost of the original Budapest film and the Montreal outtakes to the list.

Queen were lacking in preserving their live gigs, still better than Led or Floyd, though.

I didn't realise they'd recorded more? Is that rumours or fact?

I can't find the interview right now but I remember an interview with Brian from the beginning of this century where he mentioned they recorded "some stuff" with Robbie Williams but in the end the only thing that got released was the WATC cover ...

I hope I'll be able to find it online

EDIT
So I didn't find the interview I was hoping for, but I found several different interviews and it looks like they recorded several different VERSIONS of WATC. And they WANTED to record more stuff with him.

Sorry for the miss-information.

Never got over him doing that Freddie "teeth" joke on Jay Leno. .. he was all braggadocio instead of being humble.

Might have happened. If I remember correctly he was testing out quite a few of the band's songs on one of his U.S. tours

Any ideas which Queen songs he performed on the US tours? I know he's done WWRY several times but hadn't realised he'd done others

Williams is a total C. U. N..ext T..uesday.
Name drops at the drop of a hat to give himself kudos.
Cannot understand how he is so popular in the U.K.
Vocally all over the place like fat middle aged drunk trying to karoke on a Saturday Night.

I don't know how subjective is that but even on Wembley '86 Freddie is a great singer.
Not hitting the high notes is one thing, but a great singer consists of so much more and Freddie had them "built in".

No, he was a great showman and a great artist because of the "so much more". Being a great singer is purely a matter of technical competence, and Freddie was not consistently great live. He was never a BAD singer, but I've heard plenty of shows (I have well over 50 analog bootleg tapes of concert recordings, plus I've heard a great many of the bootlegs shared over the internet) and feel perfectly justified in concluding that Freddie was in INCONSISTENT singer live, ranging from decent to brilliant. Freddie would be near the top if not at the top of my list of greatest PERFORMERS, but he definitely wouldn't be near the top of my list of greatest LIVE SINGERS.

Although i will say i don't think Leiden is anything special, especially by Freddie's standards. He's just not as restricted with his voice as the rest of the tour but i don't think he's great. Who Wants To Live Forever is an example of his voice not being able to cope with the song, which i assume is why he sang it in a different key in other performances.
