Although you downloaded, listened, and used his version as a benchmark, and his words as a motivation, as you say. Did you ever thought to say him something appreciative? Or there is nothing to appreciate, everyone with his "vision", and of course yours is a professional one. Not to mention, you have a logo, and he hasn't. I believe this gives an answer to point 3 as well.
About your vision, check the picture. It is CMI MUSIC idea of a proper mastering. You need to come up with more than this if you want to be taken seriously.
