Hi all, I've just been watching the Monty Python reunion show here in the UK, and while I knew beforehand of the Arlene Philips connection, apparently the producer of the show is one Jim Beach, as stated in the closing credits. Just wondering if it is the illustrious bloke who never made Freddie boring. Anyone know?

Those recent Python shows were nothing but a money making exercise to exploit the fans of their disposable income one last time...
Sort of like.... what are they called again? I think they still call themselves 'Queen'?

Too true, repeating jokes made 40 years ago is not comedy. John Cleese is skint after his last divorce, so..... Kerching....

Apparently they have each made 2 million from it so... well done for being good back in the old days...

Saw a documentary recently where Eric Idle said he'd been friends with Beech for years and asked him to come to a group meeting they were having to discuss how to pay some legal fees they had. Idle met beech the night before and suggested a live show. At the meeting the following day Beech made out like it was his idea.
He can be seen onstage at the end of the televised final show.

Sorry that should be Beach of course not Beech

Idle and Beach were friends at university, and Beach has been involved as producer of the Spamalot musical for Python.
Ironically, they got screwed over by someone involved with the Life of Brian movie who successfully sued them for a share of the musical profits, therefore necessitating the money spinning 02 gigs.

I never criticize a businessman for capitalizing on an opportunity.
After all, nobody forced anyone to open their wallet at gunpoint.

I agree Wizard. As a lifelong Python fan I'd have traveled over from Cork but couldn't get tickets. Went to the cinema to watch it and loved it.
