"Dave Grohl partially living off the fact he was part of the big 90's grunge band Nirvana."

One thing he does not do is live off Nirvana, it only comes up when others talk about it in interviews

"but to elevate a middle of the road rocker to Queen's class is crass and stupidity."

Who is doing that? Cringeworthy blinkered Queen fandom, horrible.

That alone just shows how ignorant you are. Many FF fans including myself either don't or didn't know he was part of Nirvana.

Could not possibly disagree with you more. He has completely reinvented himself as a musician and barely mentions Nirvana anymore.

I've always thought that "Everlong" is a good song, especially the acustic version. Also "Learn to Fly" is quite good. ...but last Friday a friend put on the One By One-album (2002), and we all agreed it was quite good (we hadn't heard it in 10 years).

Dave Grohl is a great performer, song writer and drummer. he also has a good ear for production work and is looked up to by so many other pro musicians, and not just in the world of rock/metal.

He also has a huge understanding of the history of moden music.

Anyone who does'nt believe that this guy, and the Foo's, are at the top needs to watch their Wembley Stadium gig from a few years ago. And to give you a more insightfull view check out the Sound City DVD

Sorry folks! Do not agree! This guy can play for 10 hours but his music and band will still sound like shit!
Just another bunch performers which are part of a music scene that is dead in the water!
Green Day, GNR, BJ, Muse, and many others better than these chumps!

Their material so far is weak imo. Dave Grohl partially living off the fact he was part of the big 90's grunge band Nirvana. Everyone has different tastes of course but to elevate a middle of the road rocker to Queen's class is crass and stupidity.[/QUOTE]
well perhaps i'm in a minority here, but i prefer FF to anything Nirvana managed.
Grohl is a all-round great musician and a good song-writer to boot.

Mooghead - As they say Mooghead - You can go and do one! John Bon Jovi is one of the best rock singers live. Put your laughing gear around that!

I never thought I would see those words arranged in that order.
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."
