number 8 debut in the UK top 100 for a live record? Sounds pretty impressive to me.

The only source I can find for that is Queen's Facebook page.

Officialcharts.com has the list which will be official on Sunday. Robert Plant is number 1, Queen are number 8

Not that impressive if you look at the record sales these days.

Nowdays sales are poor for everybody. Chart in 8th for a live album is a good sign, even better considering that album was recorded 40 years ago.

Say what you want. I'm not impressed by charts at all these days. The music industry is dead as far as album sales are concerned.
Touring is were the money has to be made...

Remember Exile on main streets reedition was number1, so...
Better than other live realeases this years, no more.

Hopefully the sales are good enough for QP to go on with releasing more live CDs & DVDs.

This is very impressive indeed. Do you remember at which positions Queen's other live releases from RECENT years charted? I think it was No. 20 for "On Fire", No. 20 for "Montreal", not even sure about Wembley re-edition or "Return of the Champions". No. 8 on albums chart for a relatively low-key, fans mainly live release is very, very good. I can only suspect the DVD will do even better.

We'll probably get Hammersmith next year, as it will mark the 40th anniversary of that concert. :)

If everyhing goes as your logic suggests(Which i hope!), next year they will release Hammersmith 75', then in 2016 Knebworth 86', then in 2017 Houston 77'.
Those would be great releases. I was thinking that next year they were going to release a Q+AL Blu ray. I hope that does not happen, or if it does happen, i hope Rhys works on a queen Live concert release aside any Q+AL release.

Exile was a re-release of a massive selling studio LP, Rainbow is a live release from a band with a LOT of live releases. Not really comparable.
Fact is, this is the most successful Queen release for a long time, entering only a few places below where Cosmos Rocks did, and way above where Bowl, Montreal, or Hungarian did.
Queen have never even HAD a number one live album in their whole career..

that's no basis of argument - CR is no benchmark for ANY kind of comparison. Secondly. sales figures will be what measures the success - not it's initial chart position.

Of course, but I was reacting to him saying he isn't impressed with the chart position. Well the chart position is fucking good compared to where Queen have been charting with pretty much anything from the last 10 years, and is more in line with releases from their heyday, than current releases.
