Had a look at the new BBC Genome website, not sure if anyone is aware of a BBC Radio 3 Series from 1974 that featured Freddie and Brian. Here is a link http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/eadad212b38d415ba61a7472d800e9f0
Just thought i would post, may be of interest to some.
Cheers.

Fascinating.
In fact, I think I may have this on a cassette somewhere. It's just labeled as "1974 radio interview" .. and it certainly wasn't in the US at that time. I'll have to dig and find this.

Never heard that interview before, but i was only 10 years old to be honest but
nice of you to have made me aware of that broadcast Dave.

No problem, lets hope they will appear one day. it would be great to hear them.

i have a few versions of "silver salmon" on a rare Queen cd, "silver salmon" is Queen at there heavy period in there careers
but as good as it is i am glad it was dropped because it was raw and had no Queen trade marks to it.
"Feelings Feelings" on the other hand is a much better track and my Favourite obscure track ever!
Find it on "News of the world" (Delux version) which came out a few years back!

you really should give it a proper listen. it has loads of "queen trademarks"
Freddie's intonation is very typical of the 73-77
period. Brian's playing has lots of his "stamp" all over it - especially songs like Doing All Right, Brighton rock, Son and Daughter and even bits of Sweet lady.
Roger's drumming is very much like his NOTW Sheer heart Attack playing

silver salmon sounds like a demo and that is why it never surfaced on to any Queen album.
not good enough by Queen standards.

all unfinished songs sound like demos (at best). LMIYHA was unfinished until now. there's no reason why SS couldn't be finished
they dug out Mad The Swine and polished it to be the Bside of Headlong - from 18 yrs previous!!!!
Mad The Swine was supposed to be on the debut album - so no reason why songs like SS and Polar Bear couldn't be tidied up

silver salmon has some sound production problems on it.
Firstly it is such a thunderous noisy track, and lacks clarity.
Queen would never touch that track ever!
i am sure it was only a jam session anyway.

you have no idea at all if they have multitracks for the song. if they do then tiding it up and tweaking some levels is a piece of cake.
if you still don't get what i mean - have a listen to some of the Zeppelin bootlegs from different recording sessions - in particular "Antrabata" "Physical rarities" and "Studio daze" - some of the levels and sound quality is poor - but then if you listen to the companion disks released with the 2014 reissues - the sound quality is stunning. It's all down to what they actually have in the vaults - and what format the best recording is in.

I do not think Dr. May would agree with you there!
Silver Salmon is quite a messy track to listen too and frankly Brian would refuse point blank
to even consider tidying the track up.
We all know how stubborn Brian can be!

you have to listen beyond the messiness. if there's a multitrack then there's nothing that can't be fixed with pro tools. you could end up with something that has an early queen rock feel

well to be honest if it was going to happen it would have by now, as Brian says there is no more worth while tracks to work on, so this track will never see the light of day on a commercial level, sadly.
I always thought that track "I guess wer'e falling out"
would get worked on but so far has not.

Gerry, Brian said that same self thing ten years ago. Then in 2011 - the reissues have a smattering of "previously unreleased tracks". Now three years later, 3 "previously unreleased tracks" and the "Rainbow concert"
the point is - they won't release it all in one go - it's financial suicide.
and secondly, of course they have to say "that's all folks" that's what makes "completest fans" buy this stuff.
at some point, Dog With a Bone, hangman, Polar Bear, Silver Salmon and the rest will see official light of day - they're possibly part of Brian/Roger & John's kids' kids pension funds...
just keep the faith.
