November Rain or Hulkster In Heaven, which is the definitive 1990's epic rock song?

It's a question that's been burning my brain for about a decade. I wanted to publish a poll and poll QZ'ERs about it but the website seems to make that impossible from a mobile device.

Given that Guns and Roses did an excellent live version as well, I'm kinda leaning in that direction.

But for pure emotive portraits and songwriting, I just do a 180 again each time I hear Hulkster In Heaven HIH

HIH is up there, But to my knowledge it's never been performed live

Did IQs just fucking plummet on Queenzone? Why is it filled with such utter shite these days?

Because I posted in the personal section and it was clearly a joke.

^ Remember that this is a joke thread, and I'm diverting this into a best thread because the joke has gone.

Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. II: Scenes From a Memory

I'm so glad to see this included in people's lists.

Without a doubt it's the best progressive rock album since the 70s.

What is 'Dream Theatre'? I only know they exist coz of this site?!

Dream Theater are a progressive metal band who have existed for over 20 years. American instrumentalists, Canadian singer. They're best known for their supreme skills as musicians, which in their case has been a double-edged sword - they've created some of the best rock music of the last quarter century, and also some of the worst. Their music ranges from brilliant prog rock epics to concise and hooky songs to downright awful derivative metal that's little more than an excuse for them to show off how fast they can play.

Scenes From A Memory is without a doubt their finest work, but there are other strokes of brilliance all over their catalogue. Images and Words is excellent, as is disc 2 of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and Octavarium.

If you like Rush, Yes, Marillion, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or any combination of the above, you're bound to like much of what Dream Theater has produced. If you don't, then stop reading here and grab Bon Jovi's latest album and enjoy.

Songs like Learning to Live, Erotomania, Finally Free, and The Count of Tuscany completely reprogrammed my ways of understanding the power of utilizing a vast musical vocabulary to create new soundscapes in the rock idiom.

But - I realize they're not everyone's cup of tea.

I feel slightly insulted here. I don't like Rush or Metallica at all, I feel indifferent about Iron Maiden and Marillion and I somewhat like Yes, but I love Dream Theater. And I certainly don't deserve being made to listen to Bon Jovi's latest album just for that. I mean, I've done considerably worse things than disliking Metallica...

You may waive the request to listen to Bon Jovi if you please.
