Flash and the hero from Rock Montreal. Video.

I'd like to know why flash and the hero were cut from Rock Montreal concert, video?

Because the video recordings was lost at the time, the good is the audio exists

They either discarded all the unused isolated reels or stored them somewhere but lost the storage information, though apparently the former is much more likely.

I believe I read or heard somewhere that those 2 songs were missing because they had to change the tapes for the cameras at some point during the concerts.

instead I would like to know why Jailhouse Rock isn't in the right position on the CD, just before We Will Rock You.....

That wouldn't happen. Those film reels only lasted up until, I think 15 minutes per reel. That's why they had the digital timecode clock on the right side of the stage.

Saul Swimmer seemed to have a whole bunch of footage for his DVD edit, including Jailhouse rock, so they might have existed in the early 2000's.

That's very true. However, the original vhs release was supposed to contain Jailhouse Rock but it must have been pulled shortly before release for whatever reason. Check the song credits at the end, JR is there.

We know already that the footage simply doesn't exist anymore - what RnRover might be asking, and I'd also be interested to know, is why they were cut in original post production.

My guess would be that both 'Flash Theme' and 'The Hero' weren't included in the final cut because they are part of a movie soundtrack. The rights of the soundtrack are owned by the filmstudio. Because Swimmer's Mobilevision wanted 'We Will Rock You' (as Rock Montreal was previously called) released in Cinema there would be dispute about the rights.
