Yes, although i am Greek i kind of understood the general idea of the phrase from the start.
However to say that someone is less than "a full coin" seemed to me strange as a metaphor.
What i posted before about the origin of the phrase (not a full glass of rum or alcohol) seems more logical about how this idiom was constructed.

It's obvious slightly Mad is about what Freddie was going through at that time. Good Song though.

Took me about 5 minutes to find. You’re welcome. I remembered that it was in one of those threads that had no subject and that all those were in the General Forum. Because they were misses in attempting to post to Thor’s tread.

To answer the OP’s question, from five years ago, yes I do. Not dementia as such but neurological involvement which is just a broader category. The acronym for it now is HAND. I think this because of all the references to fevers, kettles boiling over and such. That’s classic HIV disease. As well as some of the other lines like “missing that one final screw”. And the 1001 yellow daffodils.

But I think he’s taking the piss out of his illness and having fun with the whole thing. I think he’s laughing in the face of all the crap he’s going through.

But you know, it’s song lyrics and I could be completely wrong. And Freddie said about his lyrics if you think it’s there, it is. Just a song I really really like.

Great song, very underrated by the general public and yes, always thought it was about all these symptoms. Actually, a little surprised someone even asked.

Just out of curiosiity, do you think the announcement that Freddie had AIDS, made 24 hours before he died, had anything to do with the fact that he had AIDS?

I think that was just to cash in on the currently popularity of having AIDS
