So much here to work with and comment on that I am going to focus on what a hypothetical 2cd release would have been, and will save my comments on the demos for another day. After all, they'll be in an anthology shortly, right?;-)
Would anyone care to answer any of the questions that follow? FYI, since GH III, I have not purchased any of the compilations or remasters (though I have copies or have heard most of the bonus materials)
07. Seven Seas of Rhye [version with full ending like in the 2011 instrumental remix]
Never heard the instrumental remix until today. Guess I need to check the listings and youtube more thoroughly. Agreed, it's good. Surprised they didn't add vocals to this as another bonus as well.
09. The Prophet's Song ["finished" extended version - if Brian remembers what he had planned with the song]
Referenced in...?
13. You Take My Breath Away [Hyde Park 1976]
How about from Earl's Court (minus the cymbal crash). My wife's favorite live track....minus the cymbal crash.
15. Somebody To Love [album version with the new "rock" ending]
Such as from the Q+AL tour? It's almost sacrilege to touch this tune.
02. We Will Rock You [fast / Hammersmith Odeon 1979]
Or just the BBC version for those who don't have it.
08. A Hard Life [extended version]
the only extended version I would include
13. Stop All The Fighting [Freddie / Brian version]
Not aware of this before. Any help/sources?
18. We Are The Champions / God Save The Queen [Knebworth Park 86]
Gotta include WWRY (deleting FWBF). Hadn't thought of this before, yet it's so obvious.
CD 4 01. Princess of the Universe [film version with Sean Connery intro]
Throw in 'Gimme The Prize'...minus the movie dialogue and sound effects
04. Khashoggi's Ship [demo version]
I have not come across this one yet.
Pittrek, I like your CD5 ideas. Throw in a remix of 'My Baby Does Me' (simply remove the drum machine, and a 70's version of 'Rain Must Fall' with piano.
.6. Battle Scene 3:38 (Unreleased) (2014 Remaster
Wasn't aware of this until today, and just heard it for the first time. Thanks. Best for an anthology.
Sail away sweet sister ( Freddie vocal)
This is still unavailable, correct?
2) Staying Power (backing rerecorded/updated)
No synths! Just 'real' drums, guitar, bass, and PIANO!.
4) There Must Be More To Life Than This (Unheard Queen version with MJ)
or this http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1399980/more-to-life-than-this.aspx 3) Man Made Paradise (Queen version) 4) Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow (Queen version)
3rd early version from the Solo Collection
7) Your Kind of Lover (Queen version)
a bit of added drums (same sound mix) and a smidge of guitar.....an absolute slam dunk. I can only guess that this was considered for MIH, but the mood was too upbeat, or it lost out to 'I Was Born To Love You'.
8) Time (Queen version)
The Great Pretender version sounds as if it's a Queen version. Did Brian originally assist with this, or is it wishful thinking?
9) Mr Bad Guy (Queen version)
Nah....too personal
It's So You (Queen version)
absolutely...and keep it simple
also add 'New York'.....repeat the beginning vocals at the end....ala 'I Me Mine'. Nothing else needs to be done.
10 She Blows Hot and Cold (Queen version)
or just fade out the demo
Almost forgot, ...yes to 'Let Me In Your Heart Again' and 'Love Kills'.
Moving on, anything 'Barcelona' is off limits. It's already been done, and parts were less powerful than the original (sadly). Years ago, I would have loved to have heard Brian's guitar replacing Montserret's vocals. I've since gotten older and wiser (at times).
Would dearly love to hear Freddie LVs on 'Let's Get Crazy', 'Man On Fire', and 'It's An Illusion'....if they do indeed exist.
Also.....if they really wanted to 'play around', they could pull in Billy Squier and touch up the 'Lady With A Tenor Sax' demo, play around with the LV on 'Man From Manhattan', and sneak Adam into the mix (not in front, but as part of the mix)
Oh, as for this and the 'anthology'
All tracks remastered and mixed by C_Matt, including the old demos All videos enhanced by Chief Mouse, except the serpentine
I've checked out some of their work lately, and I would agree. Keep Orbit locked in the woodshed.

Both are terrific versions - we have the one from the first night of Earl's Court in much better quality than Hyde Park, so it's hard to compare fairly. Overall though, I find Hyde Park the most captivating, with Freddie going for many of the falsetto notes.

I'm also interested to know this.

You do know the Hyde Park version has been officially released right? In perfect quality?
Easily the highlight of the show.

Oops, memory lapse - how right you are. I do know that, I've listened to it many times. I must have confused it with accompanying low quality video that it'd been set to by someone on youtube.

The source for The Prophet's Song "Brian version" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um1JVIFX5JA - if I understood them correctly, the album version is unfinished.

thanks for the link. I sometimes need direction amongst all that is out there. And, indeed, put that on our 'Forever' or the anthology.
Apologies for not knowing the last speaker, but his bit about Brian's ...."imaginary tales....is a different world from what Freddie's bringing to the band..." tends to show an ignorance of the first three albums.
Here's a couple to add to this 'album'...the 1975 USA KYA b-side versions of 'Lily of the Valley' and GSTQ.
[apologies for my long previous post. First time I've ever used the editor...and most likely last]

Ok, this has nothing to do with the spirit of QF... but:
CD 1:
Silver Salmon
Polar Bear
Rock and Roll Medley
Hangman
Jesus (Live at Marquée 1972)
Sheer Heart Attack (Roger 74 version)
We are the champions (ANATO version)
Feelings Feelings (Definitive version mix)
It´s Late (from the material discarded for LK)
CD 2:
Let me in Your Heart Again (a better mix, perhaps?)
A Little Piece of my heart (With RS)
Play The Game (With AG)
I go crazy (new mix)
Feel Like (different take)
The other song with Bowie (i don´t remeber if the name was stated, but i belive Rhys thomas talked about it)
New York New York (if it ever exists in archives)
Gran Dame (Definitive version)
Face it Alone

I saw a picture of the tape somewhere labelt Queen / Bowie for US-Promo only - I think it was "Cool Cat" .
tomchristie22 · Member since
It was a version of Cool Cat. You can listen to it on YouTube, it's clear why Bowie wanted his vocals removed. Nothing too impressive

No, i mean another song with Bowie. An inedit and unseen one

Now i can get it! The another bowie song with Queen is "I don´t want to be a rolling stone", is supposedly a demo of "I Go Crazy".

It pisses me off that they keep releasing unreleased tracks like LMIYHA, Feelings Feelings and the alternative version of Dreamers Ball one by one, instead of opening the archives and putting it all in a complete anthology box set, similar to the Freddie solo collection.
Now fans need to collect the rare tracks from different sources and they are forced to guess year after year whatever they might have in the archives.
I guess the point of this strategy is the aim to sell more and more, but it's having the exact opposite effect on me because I'm not going to buy another copy of Jazz or Queen Forever to get one alternative version (I rather just borrow the CD from a library and rip the lone new track); however, if they released a large, glorious anthology like the Freddie one, I would actually buy it.
But it should have been released ten years ago - it's probably never going to happen. And if they keep on scattering individual unreleased songs on new stupid compilations, there will soon be nothing left for the anthology.
This Queen Forever is a totally worthless product... I don't know how many times they want to sell the same songs over and over again.

Now that I would buy............but you could probably add about 5 or so songs per disc.............like say, some of that stuff from the 'early tracklisting' of The Works.........the Miracle/Innuendo era demos (reworked MIH-style?).....a few of the BBC sessions that haven't been released yet.................(at the very least, White Queen and WWRY should be officially released in some form!)
