'We have a very interesting Queen version of There Must Be More To Life Than This which you are not gonna hear for quite a while, because we've been negotiating with Michael's estate and they didn't want this track to go out.'
This seems hopeful - there's a chance that it'll eventually see the light of day.
He's really struggling to praise the Orbit version :P

I hope this entire debacle just fades into obscurity forever. Having two legends sing on a track together had the potential to be a classic, but instead it became a horrid mess.

Did you accidentally mistitle the topic? :/
Because I'm reading from that quote that we're NEVER going to hear the Queen version.

A Queen version WITHOUT MICHAEL would be the preferred outcome. And a few years before hell freezes over. :-)

I took 'quite a while' to mean 'quite a while', not never. Point is, he's not given up on the idea.

I hope it does occur to them to just make a version without Jackson, using the same backing track.

Roger does not like the orbit mix as it drowns out freddies vocals and highlights jacksons vocals, very unfair,
and orbit ruined the track. I dont care if he worked for Madonna he has vandalised that Queen track.

Totally agree - it's a Queen/Freddie song, and they've just limply handed over all power on it to the MJ Estate. Very odd.

I can't believe Michael continues to suck (via his family) even from the afterlife.
Impressive.

A Queen track will be released that's for sure! But without MJ's vocals on it!

i don't know why you're still blaming William Orbit...sure he worked on it. but the final say-so for release is Brian/Roger & Queen Productions Ltd***.
If you employ a someone to do some work for you and you're not happy with the job...you don't pay him....you get him to do it again until you are happy with the result.
They were happy enough to release it, so
Ultimately, only THEY *** are to blame.

If I am not mistaken, Freddie sang the first verse, Michael sang the second. There is one part where they both sang but it is hard to distinguish between the two because both are male voices and they sound quite the same. The harmonies with Brian and Roger are distinguishable because their voices are different and they sing a bit higher or lower than the others.

Brenski: you know Brian & Roger are true gents and probably would not tell orbit even if they though it was crap
they just thought they would be hip because he worked on Madonnas tracks.
Roger has just admitted he was not keen on the mix.

I don't buy the gent theory. They would have found an excuse to bury that remix, and gotten a new producer in days.
They knew it was a crap remix to begin with, and they intentionally presented it to the MJ estate. They gambled on the estate to accept the Queen version instead, lost, and then started to make excuses for it.
