i have a small collection of queen/mercury books...but after reading a few it seems to be the same thing,over and over again...what do you recommend as the best or difinitive book on queen or fred...

I recently got a hold of the 2011 edition of "The Complete Works", thats a pretty good one!

Reminds me of a friend of a friend of mine.......brought his new gun over to show it off.......it was a damn 50 caliber rifle......holy crap........lol

'Queen the early years' - great read.especially as it was only 3 quid in HMV, but it was a hundred times better than I expected, very well researched.
Ratty's 'Queen unseen'- very good.
The Phil Sutcliffe.....whatever its called, another good read, mainly from an American perspective.

What about Freddie Mercury : The definitive biography by Leslie Anne Jones ? Is it worth reading ?
I don't like Leslie Anne Jones' book, it is full of gossip. However, it's still much better than the horrible books about Brian and Freddie by Laura Jackson, what a waste of money.
I like Mark Blake's book "Is this the real life? the untold story of Queen" because it is well researched and serious.
I am totally in love with Mike Dawson's book "Freddie and Me" which is not discussed often because it is not really a book about Queen but an autobiographical comic book in which the author tells us how he grew up with Queen in England and later in the USA. It is really funny and touching and reminds me of the role of music and hero worship in my own childhood and I strongly recommend it. I usually do not even like comic books.
And of course there is Queenzoner Georg Purvis' book "Queen complete works" a fantastic encyclopedia, already in a second edition.

Peter Hince's Queen Unseen is a real good read.
