Absolutely not against the LOTR films, they are masterpieces, loved them -its just that I found the books a bit plodding, where as the hobbit book seemed a more cohesive, to the point story, easier to read.[/QUOTE]
Ah. Well, LOTR books definitely more serious than The Hobbit. But it really depends on the taste. I guess I prefer LOTR because I read it before Hobbit.

So did I, / Ironically, with the hobbit being a much shorter story, Peter Jackson decided to drag it out over 3 films, which has met with a lot of criticism, and lack of critical praise and awards or even nominations.
Just a late thought, despite Howard Shore doing a terrific job with the score,- wonder what tQueen of old would have done with the commission. I imagine something wonderous

Welcome hobbit :-) its interesting reading how you discovered Queen and your enthusiasm, of course everyone on here was like that at some stage, and I still discover old & new bands and dig deep to find out more, and am quite often amazed, Muse being a fairly recent
discovery. My journey with Queen started back in 1974 when I saw my first gig, lost count of how many I've been to since ! Enjoy it on here
we are a good bunch...... mostly :-) ask as many questions as you like and we will all try and help you get the maximum Queen enjoyment !

I agree that Lord of the rings feels plodding at the beginning,
however when the story grew, it got out of Tolkien's hand and carried him away. It reached to the epic stuff that he wrote in earlier years (Silmarillion etc.) which he had no idea how to control. It makes for a great sense of real adventure if you know what I mean. Like when you travel abroad, you plan it beforehand carefully but it eventually end up in every direction ^^
I definitely want to hear what Queen would have done for The Hobbit movie sountrack. I wouldn't change any tiny note of Howard Shore on that LOTR though, best movie OST of all time IMO.
Hi gorski, I've seen your youtube channel, nice guitar covers, but you don't look like the real Bruno Gorski in the photo though :D
@Djdownsy: greeting, and glad that I brought you good laugh^^
Hello andyb1968, lucky you to go to the good-old-days Queen gigs. I have an obsession for live music, I've been going to everything live I can afford, even if going alone and in a foreign country. So you could imagine how envy I am for you :) May I ask which is the best Queen gig that you went to?

Actually I kind of always think Ogre Battle could kind of fit into LOTR. You know, 'the great big eye focused in your direction' and the ogres are naturally the orcs.
Kind of, at least....?

Why aye, spot on!

Good point noorie^^ When I first listened to Orgre Battle I did think of Tolkien's orc battle too (though the Orgre in the lyrics is more like a Troll..?). With the song's thick harsh guitar sound and agressive drum beat, its light and shade quality (Freddie's voice here is rather elvish against the background), it would be a great company to a Middle-earth battle.
I could even hear "March of the black queen" (live short version) when Sauron assembled his army :D

To be honest, it is a brilliant idea. You know, films have surround mixes. Remove the 'music' channels and you'll get dialogue with SFX. Someone could easily make a scene with Queen music like you imagined.

I'm not very good at technical stuffs, but when I have time I'll give it a try.
A long time ago I made some very simple music videos but now I couldn't even control my computer :D

By the way, each time I look at the old Brian and Roger now I feel a heavy nostalgia.
They used to be so young and mischievious.
Of course they have aged gracefully, and look much better than I would possible at that age, but still~~ Time doesn't wait for anybody.
Right now people bitches about how "silly" Bri and Rog are acting, but I'm sure when the pair is gone to join Freddie we'll all feel a big empty hole in our chest. At least I will.
