Who's autobiography would you rather read? Brian's, Roger's or John's?

I would like to read John's bio. He was sometimes judged as boring, but to my opinion he was just introverted. He experienced as much as the others and it would be interesting to hear some of the well known stories from his point of view.

John, If you're reading this...KA- CHING!
;-)

and most of all. ... YOU would get pretty much all the royalties! !! (Minus portions of press photos etc)

P.s. if you're not using your bass anymore. I think it would be nice to um. ... let me borrow it indefinitely.

Your pal,

Matt Z

John's autobiography, clearly in the lead!

We KNOW it'd sell in the U.K. but how about stateside?

Funny how we all take Brian & Roger's story telling for granted, though a big chunk of our Queen's knowledge came from them.
Maybe I have the luck of "not yet being exposed too much" to them. I would love an autobiography from any member, there're still lots of things we don't know about them.

But if I have to choose, I'd say Freddie's autobiography, even if it's out of options. He's the most masked person in the band. John was rather straighforward when he SPOKE.

(I would want to choose John's autobiography too. But then my post would be very short: Agree with everything everybody said above.
My final choice is Freddie's, thanks.)

Yes but a lot of said knowledge is biased, self-serving or wrong (just like a lot isn't).

Brian's autobiography would claim:

* My Fairy King is on Queen II.
* They never played It's Late and It's a Hard Life live.
* Love of My Life was on Sheer Heart Attack or A Day at the Races.
* He never played a Flying V live.
* Fred didn't play Steinway pianos.
* John recorded Best Friend on a Fender Rhodes.
* Without Hot Space there'd be no Thriller.
* There's a koto on Teo Torriatte.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

For me the a lot isn't (wrong) counts. The biased is unavoidable, as with any member (ok, maybe John a little bit less).

>>* There's a koto on Teo Torriatte.
Perhaps he was speaking about the toy koto in The Prophet's Song, then it being a Japanese instrument, his mind automatically switched to Teo Torriatte. Quite a logical mistake.

When it comes to writing a book people are actually going to pay to read, even one mistake is too many.

It sure is, but then again, quite a few logical mistakes would end up in his book.

Have you ever read an autobiography which doesn't have mistakes, especially from rockers?
Do you think John's book would make no such?
Of course he hasn't been saying much lately, that saves him from mistakes.

Let me think... Slash's does have some mistakes, as does Don Felder's (plenty of them, actually). Sting's... I haven't caught any, but I've no idea about most of those things so if he made mistakes they simply went past me.

The point is: having mistakes wouldn't stop me from buying and reading the book. If Brian wrote an autobiography, I'd read it, and I'd enjoy it. But it'd still have quite a few errors.

I cannot guarantee John's would have less but, based on the available evidence, it'd be possible it would. Roger's most likely definitely would: his memory's not perfect (nobody's is), but it's positively eidetic compared to Brian's.

Musician autobiographies are rarely discographies though. There is an assumption here that Brian would talk in depth about the recording of every single Queen song. Much as that would be interesting for us Queen fans it isn't what an autobiography is about, it would make a very poor 'story'.

I'm guessing deaky has been offered bundles of cash for a no holds barred autobiography ! Don't think we'll ever see it though.

No, I get that it's not meant to cater to die-hards but still, I assume he could say something like 'in 1975 we did the A Day at the Races album at De Lane Lea in Notting Hill, it included my song She Makes Me where I played ukelele.'

Actually I think Brian's book would be immensely boring, unless his bitchy side comes out. He does have one - his remarks about Bowie and John at odd moments are quite astonishing.
Freddie's book on the other hand would be an amazingly fun read. It would be completely politically incorrect and he would be open and interesting throughout. No holds barred (except about his sex life perhaps, but as I am not very interested in his sex life or his AIDS, that would not matter to me) He was a very private man, but when he did speak out, he was refreshingly open and honest. And fun!
IF John would write an open and honest memoir, we would know so much more about the real Queen, but I very much doubt that is ever going to happen.

Well, Brian doesn't remember everything, so he probably doesn't remember that Roger doesn't remember everything.
