^ Not exactly conclusive proof none of it was live though is it?

Erm, if it was completely mimed, why does Brian shake his head in disappointment with his playing during the solo?[/QUOTE]

That's just a Brian trademark, he used to do that frequently. It's completely mimed

No. But there is enough evidence for it to stand up in court.
Regarding the guitar solo, it has harmony lines at the end, which I accept could be on a backing track. But it has also been done in either two takes or it is a combination of two takes. You can hear the overlap very early in the solo.

Probably not. But can you prove that Queen mimed in Montreux?

Without wishing to do a Sebastian and get hyperpedantic, we can never be 100% certain, and only have the available evidence to go on. And at some point we have to make an informed decision as to what our opinion is of what happened.

For me, there's a tonne of evidence that confirms this was entirely mimed; chief of which is that it just doesn't *sound* or *look* live, at all. You can spot a genuine live performance a mile off, and this isn't it.

Aside from that generality, there are specifics in the performance that confirm it to be mimed. Granted, the guitar and bass are less obviously mimed than the other parts, but if you look/listen closely enough you can tell.

I almost made that point in my post. Thanks for bringing it up.

Objection your honor!
I'm not stating it's a live performance, I used the term partially mimed.
Wait a minute, you shouldn't even be having this debate, it's incredibly obvious..... (or is it?)
