I enjoyed the last part of the Remembering The Hammersmith Odeon documentary where they talked about Hyde Park. Being that they have been on a 40th anniversary kick with the Rainbow and now with the Odeon.... what are the chances we get a 40th anniversary release of Hyde Park next year??
Thoughts?

I'd love to see this released but at the recent convention, Greg Brooks said it was currently being looked at to see if a release was possible. If it was going to be released next year, I'd have thought they'd be close to having a finished product by now, not just looking at the tapes.

Maybe that's just Greg trying to hype the fandom.

I'd have thought the very fact that it's mentioned (and a clip shown) points to the fact Roger and Brian would ok the release. I'd be surprised if it isn't as well as disappointed. I'm sure next year (Freddie's 70 birthday and 25 years since we sadly lost him) well get something very special.

Sure, we'll get it.
I bet on Live at Wembley 30th anniversary edt.,
or maybe Live in Budapest 10th anniversary edt.

Was Hyde Park ever broadcast at the time (or ever)? I don't think it was
The pattern with previous concert releases is to release established, 'known' concerts that were either aired on TV or had a cinema release.
Hyde Park is obviously well know amongst us Queen fans but not to the general public which doesn't give much hope for a general release (I hope i'm wrong though).

So, there is a big chance to meet this legendary concert to the general public at the 40th anniversary... It could be a great release with some good bonus...

It's the perfect opportunity for a release. Rainbow was previously released, and Hammersmith was broadcast several times as well. Hyde Park could be marketed as NEVER BEFORE RELEASED QUEEN CONCERT.... If Hyde Park isn't on slate for a release next year, I think Brian and Roger must have gone insane.

Now, I'm really optimistic about Hyde Park getting an anniversary release over a Wembley re-re-re-re-issue.
But it's QP, and anything could happen...

Rock Montreal could get a re-release for the 35th anniversary... As could one of the South American shows get a release.
Anything is possible, but speculating won't do any good. Let's enjoy this release for what it is.

Didn't someone in the know (Possibly Rhys Thomas?) comment a few years ago that only footage from 6 or 7 songs from Hyde Park is usable?

My thoughts on Hyde Park. This is a great opportunity for Brian and Roger to right all the wrongs of the recent Hammersmith release.Rainbow was fantastic,Hammersmith not bad,but the cover was horrendous.Surly they could have used the ANATO cover and put Queen Invite You To A Night At The Opera (or Odeon).Hyde Park screams out for a release.I am sure that most if not all of the Audio and video can be rescued. The next few years could be really special for Queen fans.Let us hope that the powers that be do not spoil it

We spoke to Jim Jenkins tonight during the Queensday organized by Tez and asked him if there is a possibilty for a Hyde Park release and he told us that it's likely to be happening as not all the tracks are in good condition. My question was for a possible anthology boxset and he said that is happening. Greg is working on it. Such a nice guy.

Did Jim mention if it was the audio or video that was unusable?

It probably means they can't overdub/autotune the tracks so they won't release it.
