The pound has dropped

In Friends will be friends, the lyrics are
'So the pound has dropped and the children are creating,'

What does this mean?

It means that the value of the British pound had decreased compared to foreign monetary units. In essence, it makes the British pounds in your wallet worth less. In other words: bad news.

Also 'Children are creating' means 'someone' is causing a fuss, or arguing/fighting

I always thought it was "the children are created".....not sure what sense that would make, though! lol

"The pound has dropped " is a euphemism for sexual intercourse........and consequently, "the children are created ".
Simples.

And a few verses later...

"Got a pain in the chest
