Me being a car guy, this song makes me wonder what Roger drove.. anybody got ideas?

Well, he's had loads of cars.

Do you mean at the time the song was recorded, though? If so, apparently, an Alfa Romeo: http://www.queenarchives.com/index.php?title=Group_-_11-16-1997_-_BBC_World_Service
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

British Man, you might know this already, but just in case I would like to mention that the song is about somebody else's car.

Cheers and happy trails,

Yeah, the song in the recording is an Alfa Romeo Spider as far as I'm aware, but the car it's seemingly about is apparently a Ferrari Dino, as mentioned by Roger in that recent Q&A video.

The linked BBC interview features Roger saying it was a TR4. I personally believe 1997 Roger far more than 2015 Roger, for the simple reason that 1997 Roger was a 48-year-old man recalling a 22-year-old event, while 2015 Roger is a 66-year-old man recalling a 40-year-old event.

...we must remember that until the beginning of 1975 they perceived from the Sheffield brothers a wage of about £ 10 per week; I think Roger fantasize in i'm in love with my car about his passion for cars, as well as in tenement funster

It was a cheap(ish) british sports car on the record.

Indeed. In fact the line "when I'm cruising in overdrive don't have to listen to none of that run of the mill talk jive" points to it being a TR4A as, unlike a Ferrari Dino, this model was fitted with overdrive.
