Bollocks. Plant was atrocious. There out of obligation. He fucked up the whole thing by making those stupid noises out of his stupid face. It fucks me off big time how this person ever made a living out of music. [/QUOTE]

Listen to that then get on your knees and pray to to the gods of music to forgive you, you uncultured oik! :)

^ unless you're an eternal pessimist loathing everything about life, this is about as good as it gets.

Plant was touch and go from 73 to the early 90s, but in the last 20 years he has been spot on every night. And his last half dozen records are excellent.

I saw this in the cinema a couple of years back and it was very emotional. It was like they had rediscovered their mojo. Amazing stuff.

With bells on. NOTHING Plant has ever done has had any melody or nuance where his voice is concerned. Zeppelin were a good band musically but add Plant's girly warbling and screaming on top of that and everything is ruined. Try listening to ANY Zeppelin boot and not cringing and he misses notes within the first 2 minutes and continues doing so for the rest of the show........

I've never quite got the level adulation with Plant OR Page actually.....Page is a great writer (when he's not nicking others' material!) and producer, but as a guitarist he's not (to me) all that. Very sloppy and lacking an amount of melody or taste in a lot of his playing, and is far more a rhythm player than a lead/soloist. Plant seemed to have been raved about in the Zep days purely cos he waved his hair around and flashed his tits - for the most part I find his voice thin and irritating; and how many times do you need to fill a gap with 'Oooh baaaby'?!!! However, as pointed out above, his more recent output has been pretty good and he has certainly improved as a vocalist whereas others of that era have got worse.

Nothing against Zep fans (and the music journalists who think Plant and Page lay golden, fragrant turds in their wake), but if you're really going to rave about anyone's musical prowess in that band, the ones to do it over were Bonham and Jones!

Back on topic however.......Gary Glitter was initally slated to sing Crazy Little Thing Called Love, but he blabbed his mouth off to the press about the set up and setlist in the run up to it, and with all artists having been asked by Queen to not disclose anything, they actually showed some balls and ditched him. Turned out to be a smart move!!

Plant wrote lyrics, too. I'm not hugely well versed in Zep, so I couldn't say how many of their lyrics are his.

Sure, from 73 onward he was touch and go. But through mid 72 he was pretty spot on every night. Listen to the second disc of the BBC sessions or How The West Was Won. He's spotless. And there are no studio overdubs.

The Rain Song is one of many beautiful pieces in the Zeppelin catalog. Plant delivers the goods.

And listen to his last few solo albums - they are excellent, with a diverse gluttony of influences. He has become a truly fascinating artist.

Yes. He said quite a few times (in public) that Robert was his favourite singer. There's not a single recorded or printed interview where Fred said the same about Paul Rodgers.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

In the attached interview, Fred says quite adamantly that Paul Rodgers was his favourite singer. Seems legit to me. Maybe now we can finally put this old joke to rest.
