Wasn't All God's People a song that evolved from the demo Freddie recorded (possibly with Montsy) for the Barcelona album ?
Er, no, it wasn't. It was a song that evolved at the same time as the Barcelona album, but not a song recorded *for* the Barcelona album.
Wasn´t "Africa by night" a demo from the "Barcelona" project? I know it didn´t make the Freddie box-set but i always thought it came from the Barcelona sessions - home sessions that is.

It was first done for a solo project which was interrupted and ultimately shelved because of 'Barcelona', so it's more or less from the same period but not precisely from those sessions or meant for that album.

Another case of people adding two plus two and getting five.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Regarding The Miracle, Brian stated I Want It All was the first track recorded since the track was totally finalized before jamming again after a long break.
Really? Where did he say that? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely asking. I remember him saying he'd written it before the sessions and, for that reason, it was an exception to the team effort writing they were doing at the time, but not that it was necessarily the first they laid down. It may very well have been, of course.

Also, the track was recorded in a live setting, to get the feeling back to play together again. Correct me if I am wrong though.
Perhaps quite a few of them had live backing tracks, but there were still loads of overdubs and some programming.
I remember it from the BBC radio interview shortly after the release of The Miracle, where, in my memory, it was debated.
But i have to listen back to it to be sure.

I dont think we will get much wiser with this tread, it'll be asuming.
You ain't seen nothing 'till your down on the muffin...;)

The vocals up to "And then I...then I went into a dream." are clearly pre-Innuendo sessions. (Compare the two "Rule with your heart and live with your conscience" lines at the beginning and end of the song.

I suspect these particular vocals were recorded during the Barcelona sessions as they also sound a bit different from The Miracle-era Freddie, then they finished the song with vocals recorded during the Innuendo sessions proper.

Great topic. Keep it up.

A recently found comment by Roger seems to allege 'It's Late' was the first thing they recorded for 'News of the World.'

I thought that The Night Comes Down was the first to be recorded for Queen. Isn't the album version just a remixed version of the original De Lane Lea demo?
Don't shun it!

Note that I'm only counting those they recorded as part of the album sessions per se, not the ones that wound up there later on for other reasons, such as rescued demos and B-Sides
In that sense, 'Night Comes Down' was not recorded *for* the album, it was recorded *as* a demo and then rescued and put on the album since they needed more material. A similar point can be made about 'All God's People' and 'God Save the Queen.'
