Hi,

Many apologies if this has been asked before but how many Queen gigs were professionally recorded i.e. good enough to release as an album ?

I'm guessing stuff like Houston '77 and Earl's Court are a given ?

Please refer to the following thread where Greg Brooks claims this:

http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1027435/the-queen-live-archive-list-finally-sorry-for-the-delay.aspx

Somehow, I've never believed this to be the complete contents.......... Wonder what Brian has stashed away......?

Who are these sources, if i may ask?

Also, finally a "serious" topic based on facts and not in tastes.

What about Paris 1980 and New Zealand 1985.

Although I don't personally believe the New Zealand footage exists. :(

These I've never heard confirmation of.

In 86 I know they recorded things like Slane and Manchester, but not much more (besides the shows that've been released, of course.

My only real hope here is that they recorded more US News Of The World shows. If Bob Harris was doing his documentary, then you'd like to think they recorded the shows from the board that were being filmed, like Fort Worth and Vegas.

I always assumed those were only short bits recorded by local TV stations

Unlikely.

What we've heard is a 2-track tape, which they recorded at every show from about 1975 onward.

1981 - yes, that's why I gave a "maybe" to Mexico, but now I'm not sure about Venezuela anymore - we definitely know they recorded (at least footage) of one of the concerts.

1982 - I was pretty sure I read it on Martin's old site but I can't find it anywhere there, so maybe it's all BS

1986 - correct, I edited my original response.

The Bob Harris footage would be great, I'd definitely buy a 50 Bluray box set of uncut BH stuff :-)

The archivist said in 1986 they recorded all the UK shows and Budapest (makes sense). And yes, i too, expect some shows from 1977 and 78 to be properly recorded, it doesn't matter if they are the americans or the british in the Empire Pool.

That's a real crime perfectionists such as Queen would not record their shows at soundboard.
