People claim that the studio version of We are the champions ended with the line " OF THE WORLD" and on the recording, the end is ending without it.

Some stuff from the past seem to have changed.
Here are some examples.

The line from Star Wars where darth vader says Luke , i am your father, now says: NO i am your father.

The line from Forrest Gump: Life is like a box of chococlates, is now : Life WAS like a box of chocolates.

Ever since I became a Queen fan in the mid-90s it has for me been without the ending. I've never really understood why they left it out though.

and the logical conclusion of this... Is that misinterpretations of things can become widespread, and not everything in life goes as we intuitively expect it to (e.g. We Are the Champions not resolving to the tonic at the end...). To resort to 'I used to come from a universe where...' is just an insane solution.

well its not so insane if you knew about the Hadron particle collider in Switzerland called CERN. its been said for it to have open parallel universes and black holes.
