Talked to a friend who lived in UK and he said that in UK every party (at a club or whatever) usually ends with Dont Stop Me Now (or starts with it) and multiple Queen songs are played thru the night. That been said, i started thinking that everybody always refers to Queen as the "true rock royalties" (perhaps due to the name).
If you guys are from UK, then i just would ask you to put it into understandable terms - how big is Queen in UK? Today.
Like if Brian speaks up on some matter - does it get published in newspapers? Or if Rog does something etc.
Are they (Queen) still considered as one of the gretest by public opinion etc.?
It's a bit of a complicated question but i just started wondering.
Tnx.

Songs are constantly in commercials, they are still being played on most radio stations, releases are advertised in newspapers,on tv, still magazine cover stars,Brian May is special guest on a variety of programmes, regularly on 'Breakfast TV',Sky At Night',Wildlife TV,so still pretty big matey! Brian does get on my tits with his 'Holier than Thou' opinion of his self!!

Are you talking about how big they are as celebrities, faces or names. Or are you talking about the band as a commercial success?

there one of the era of rock bands that have become cultural...there probably the biggest band in terms of popularity perhaps competing with the Beatles..Freddie Mercury is now iconic which helps, everyone I suspect knows of them or there songs..they carry alot of nostalgia...look at the olympics in London..Freddie stole the show from a video wall...Brian played on Buckingham palace...there part of the wallpaper of the nation.

Is that a translation for "doing other things than playing music and having opinions that you don't agree with" ?
Brian is one of the most humble guys in the biz. Anyone who's met him or worked with him knows it.

OP, where are you from?
I think this comparison is pretty good:
Elvis and Michael Jackson in the U.S.A.
ABBA in Sweden.
The list goes on

Well they were featured in the London Olympics closing ceremony, that alone should probably say a lot of how Queen is still big in UK right?

Brian's known himself and worked with himself for far longer than anybody else, and he's admitted being pigheaded. He's a magnificent musician and, as far as I can tell, an incredibly nice person, but he's not particularly humble, and he doesn't need to be.
