With all the speculation as to whether this has been added back to "OB" on the forthcoming release, here is a copy of it from a really old cassette dating back to the 70's/early 80's which I capped a couple of months ago.
It's certainly the best I've ever heard but still hissy.
No idea of the generation: OB itself certainly doesn't sound as clean as the previous Band of Joy release from '89.
I also have no idea how many downloads mediafire will allow, so if it's deemed good enough, maybe someone could address that issue so more people can grab it?
Also, if it IS good enough, and it's NOT been added onto the new release, maybe there is there an audio wizz who can clean it up so we can all create a full version....
Oh. And no. The cassette only contained this one track.
Sadly I don't appear to have any of the sessions recorded off air, complete with DJ banter in between (apart from Session 5 of course which we all have)

Did you clip the beginning a bit?
I seem to have a little bit extra on my copy.

Not that I'm aware of.
At 2 seconds into what I've uploaded there's a blatant "cut/roll" noise which suggests to me that's the start of the recording. Am I wrong?
How does it compare with yours, sound wise?

^ I just did something rather un-clever.
I accidentally managed to overwrite my file with your one!

Is it the "raw" transfer or my lame "remastering" attempt? And thanks for putting it here

^ If you are addressing me, no it wasn't.

No actually I was addressing David :-) So wait, now when I downloaded the mediafire link, whose version did I download? Or did you just rename the DOWNLOADED file on your computer with the name of your ORIGINAL file?
I hate being confused :-)

I think it's very strange that 'Ogre Battle' was broadcasted in such unedited form...
Certainly there are two takes of the guitar noise intro on this recording. The first one quite short and ends with the main riff without hi-hat count-in. Then there's a second take which ends with hi-hat count-in which is slightly off tempo (slower) of the main part of the song. Between these two takes I hear a tape 'rec' stop-start noise. Also, knowing live versions of 'Ogre Battle' song, it's quite strange that there's a gap between the intro and the main part.
What do you guys think about it?
Here's a merge which represents how the track 'must' have been broadcasted in my opinion:

It's the raw transfer Peter.

It surely sounds pretty well, but the beginning is truncated with a couple of seconds. This could be the most complete recording, though with very crappy quality - https://mega.nz/#!vNNTHZjB!W_B2WwtjQiNbXbNWs74JCcBsi6nViqMGYlvOJvJ4vH8

That version sounds like the one I had, only in much worse quality :-(
I'll try stitching something together to re-create the file I managed to overwrite.

The longest version of this should be over a minute long. It sounds like they do two takes of the guitar intro - about 30 and 40 seconds each.
After the first one Brian does the bit of the Ogre Battle riff, then you faintly hear what sounds like a recording engineer, and then another take begins.

On the lower quality version you can hear that faint voice, on the better quality version you can't.
