My attempt at a complete version of Ogre Battle BBC version

Both radio recordings from this thread were speed-matched to the '89/'95 official release then NR'd before being spliced in.

YV, this sounds like an official recording and deletion needs to be looked into.

The gap and volume change at 1:24 always bothered me a little.

If there is a problem, then by all means, delete that link.

Instead, here is JUST the intro, with less than 5 seconds of official audio afterwards so it can be synced properly.

Nicely done !

And FYI, this place is basically unmoderated.

Have fun !

The longest version of this should be over a minute long. It sounds like they do two takes of the guitar intro - about 30 and 40 seconds each.

After the first one Brian does the bit of the Ogre Battle riff, then you faintly hear what sounds like a recording engineer, and then another take begins.
On the lower quality version you can hear that faint voice, on the better quality version you can't.
That's just because some heavy hiss reduction has been done, which resulted in a lot of lost audio information.

But it can be heard on the lower quality version that has MORE hiss reduction.
Also, should that gap be in there or not?

As regards BBC session 6.
The session was broadcast in quad matrix H on Radio 1 FM in the UK on Jan 2nd 1978.

That version sounds like the one I had, only in much worse quality :-(
I'll try stitching something together to re-create the file I managed to overwrite.
You mean you don't have backups?

Ahh, then in that case it's probably an edit.

Hard to know what the original version is, when these tapes are so high generation to begin with.

But it seems like it should just be two consecutive takes with no gap.

Not of everything, but I have material split over 7 hard drives and 2 PC's in the hope of avoiding a total disaster.
Shit will always happen though.
