He said that? I don't remember it. I've only seen some silly memes with that line and people actually have posted those in Queen official international fan club FB-page for example. No wonder it sticks...

not verbatim but it was something during a discussion "write me anything I'll sing until I fucking well drop" ... then somewhere else it was "Freddie plunked down a vodka and ripped through it in one take"

other accounts I believe used the word "lacerated" .. . but possibly I'm adding to the myth.

it's been so many years since I watched my COTW VHS. I doubt it's on YouTube

until I re watch that (*might have even come from a different interview) then don't quote it.

it's entirely possible that the quote from Brian was sourced and THEN the part about one take was added in later in a game of telephone.

I haven't heard the multi tracks but it's possible there was a noise gate on the Mic. accounting for the drop ins etc.

unfortunately Dave Richards is no longer here to clarify (as he'd be the more likely unbiased contributor)
"Come tonight! Come see the Overbite! Come to Ogre Battle, FIGHT!"

^^ Yeah I haven't seen it for years either. Maybe someone more savvy on the subject will enlighten us.

I have to say, it IS interesting. Sad lyrics, but in such optimistic tune. Can't wait for full version.

Quote from Wikipedia (doesn't state the source though) - "Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' — vodka down — and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal." ".

I'd say that's a reference to the high D bit. No mention of one take.

John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
