There is a question whether those footage are from the concert in Fort Worth or Houston ...?

Aaa I already know ... it's Houston.

Anyone care to put this up on youtube?
I recall friends going to that show, while I went to Mt. Pleasant to see CMU finish a 10-1 season by beating Western Michigan. Oh, well....

I think it is on YouTube if you search for it.

I am well aware of the digital noise, I questioned it also.
I merely relayed exactly what the guy said in the PM, you can draw your own conclusions as to how his friend introduced the noise reduction.
Master cassette Tape>Magix Cleaning Lab>CD>Traders Little Helper
He also said the tape is most probably lost forever, but there is one last avenue I am exploring.[/QUOTE]
As long as the clean transfer is still there in WAV, there is hope.
Good luck !

Ok, Ron got back to me now.
It seems the raw wav file was not saved and there is next to no hope of retrieving the master tape, if indeed it still actually exists.
So lets's just raise a glass to Gary, Al and Ron and thank them for bringing this bit of history to the masses.
Cheers lads.

That's beyond tragic. But thanks for trying.
The guy who transferred it is probably half deaf and thought he was somehow improving it.
It's great to have the tape, as it's one of the best Queen tapes we'll ever hear - but it's sad and frustrating that we know it could be twice as good.

Don't get me wrong: I'm over the moon with this tape.
But, I just don't understand anyone doing a transfer of an old master tape and not keeping the untouched digital master.

It could be innocent neglect, or it could be someone knowingly keeping the best version for themselves. It wouldn't be the first time someone threw the crumbs and played the #oops card.
In all my years of collecting I've never heard of both a master and a raw transfer disappearing at once, although I guess there can be a first for anything. But my instincts say something stinks here.
That said, it still beats a guy like Freezer saying he'd rather burn his masters because he thinks people feel a sense of entitlement to his collection. Compared to that, ignorance definitely is bliss.
So I should probably stop going on about this and finish on a diplomatic note, and pretend like I haven't been around the block and instead just be grateful for anything that floats down to us. None of us reading this bothered to taped the show, after all..

Don't you think I would have put the link up had I found it yesterday?
Well, it's up now

Don't you think you sound a bit sarky. I recalled a youtube link being posted in the announce forum and advised you search for it. Just checked and that same link was posted there on March 3rd --- http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1465467/1977-11-18-detroit-uncirculated-master-transfer-on-dime.aspx?page=2
Sorry for trying to help you out. :(

Another conspiracy theory, or perhaps you just bit the hand that fed you. The unedited transfer could have been deleted who knows when, as could the tape itself.

Pfft.
Are you trying to suggest that nobody has ever purposely let out an inferior copy of a tape?
Or that you are now holding something back because someone wrote a post on a forum that burst your bubble?
Tape collecting is a funny hobby and it makes people do funny things. Like I said, these guys may well have made an innocent mistake. But if that isn't the case here, it wouldn't the first time, and it won't be the last.
It's not a conspiracy theory if it has happened - even on this very forum, plenty of times.
Barry Durex · Member since
Yes it has happened, but I wouldn't go pointing fingers based on that. You should be aware of more facts first. I wouldn't go slating somebody for their handy work either, no help at all in this case.
The Real Wizard · Member since
Of course you're right.
Either way, we're probably not going to get any more of an explanation than we've gotten, so we should just enjoy it for what it is.
