wasn't the rarities amassed by the Fanthology group only kept within the group like a walled garden that unless you had something to contribute you didn't get in? and because it was nigh on impossible to find anything rare because the fanthology already had it, until David Fuller came along?
are we not back to the same thing, where now theres nothing new out there coz its being kept between a few people, and theres nothing new to find?
maybe thats why the bonanza game hasn't worked as well??
There was never any plan to add new members to Fanthology. The team was assembled and that was that.
Fanthology was a great idea that was always intended to benefit EVERYONE.
It was always going to be a long term project and if it had continued, we'd all be seeing some great results and shares by now.
It was never a bunch of people out for their own gain.
The plan was always to put together the best archive outside of QPL and release it after a number of years (and no, I'm not talking decades before the negative mob start). It was never to drip feed rarities which is why some folks on here seem so negative about it.
If that had happened, all the "elite" traders would have kept hold of everything they had knowing that they'd get Fanthology rarities via free drip feed along with everyone else.
As it happened, thanks to Fuller, that's exactly what happened - said traders got the stuff freely and trades in progress ceased.
I wouldn't say "the Bonanza game" isn't working: it's producing 'some' results, but QZ is only a small community and I know of traders who are members here but are rarely active. For the most part, I think people on QZ don't have any rarities to share but may have upgrades to share.
Yes, we are 'back to the same thing' with traders, as you put it, but as you know, it's hard enough trying to trade for rarities even when you have some in return - it's a trust thing. You have to bear in mind the two main ways people have rarities is because they've spent thousands on acetates at auction (and would YOU give copies away freely if you had?), or they've been obtained on the sly from QPL or one of the video houses that's transferred footage for QPL and if stuff "leaked", you'd immediately lose your source.
After a time, rarities lose their value between traders and that's when they become public domain and for all we know, there may be some items that are at that stage now and this "game" could be the prompt needed for some to start sharing....

in case you didn't notice I shared a lossless transfer of my Coventry '75 tape only yesterday on another thread.
Then why the need for the bonanza?
It seems you have twisted it all into something rather sinister and decided to rant on at me.
It wasn't a rant - I just accurately pointed out that a) you were changing the game part way through, and b) plenty of people are interested in multiple sources of shows regardless of their quality. A "game" changer, if you'll pardon the pun.
As a result I'm offering the task of choosing what goes in the slots to somebody else as I am obviously in need of another substantial hiatus from QZ.
I will agree to whatever goes in, my pledge of course still stands.
Then that means we're at 6 tapes - the three I offered, the Vienna 82 offered by "on my way up", and your London 12-10-80?

As per my uncirculated tapes - the 9-4-84 recording is still better than the existing source. You're right, it's lossy - I initially thought it may be mp3 sourced, but I just couldn't be sure as the taper wasn't clear about what the lineage was (and he's nowhere to be found).
Possibly sourced from minidisc?
I know I spent the mid 90's transferring all of my tapes to minidisc and then CD-R came out...

Yep, that's always a possibility too. But doesn't minidisc cut off around 20kHz instead of 16?

32 KHz DAT?

It turns out the Paris 84 recording was posted at TTD, but nobody noticed because it's in a 48 page thread consisting mostly of this one person's carrot dangling of samples - and the download link expired in a week.

The speed fluctuates on side B of the tape, so I'll post a speed corrected version when I get a chance.
And although it's truly bizarre behaviour to let out an uncirculated tape like that, thanks all the same to Kurgan !

Advice to anyone with uncirculated material...
Don't ever make anyone feel the need to post something like this:
oliverd05 wrote:
Kurgan care to give a tease of what you know is out there?
Nobody should ever feel like they're in a position of servitude. If you're going to say something exists, then post it. If you don't want to post it, then don't talk about it. It's pretty simple.
Music isn't a hierarchical relationship. It is shared between equals who enjoy the same thing. As soon as a master/servant relationship is established, you have officially missed the point of what "sharing" music is all about.

So I guess that's what passes as "sharing" now.

Hmmm, you seem to neglect to mention there are three full un-circulated flac shares on that one page link alone. It's a trade list thread, so it follows that samples are a logical inclusion. There is not the slightest hint of malice in the entire thread as far as I'm concerned, quite the contrary in fact. Some of us did notice the thread by the way, so the wisest course of action might be to subscribe to it instead of whinging.

It's 2017. We're in the digital age. Of course the few shares are appreciated by anyone who wants them, but 95% of the thread is carrot dangling.
And you always seem to be jumping to this person's defense ... hmm, I wonder why !? You write in the same style and everything...
It takes nerve to defend this kind of behaviour, and while implying that I am a hoarder given my activity at this forum over the last 15 years.
Keep on going - this is free entertainment.

I can live without hearing a couple tapes. I will never reduce myself to feeding from the trough.
So please, go on and continue vilifying someone who has unearthed more Queen tapes than anyone else.

I don't dispute you are the master of liberating the recordings of both traders and collectors alike. But I hold the cards that can win me the game if I decide to play them, do you want to raise or fold?
