The American accent was featured in the interview @ the China Club in the early 80s. It's on youtube. I didn't think it was bad and I'm American lol

Oh yes! I rewatched now and he was pretty good! No wonder he was proud haha

@Thor

Was Freddie aware of Madonna and did you ever hear him make any comments about her?

His American accent was better than my British accent. When I was 17 and working at my first job (just selling tickets), I would try different accents when I got bored. My coworkers were so annoyed LOL

"Ello! Do ya fancy a stroll through the exhibits, yeah?"

How I had any friends at all, idk. Omg.

Hi Thor,

I know Freddie's not the bragging sort, sorry if you mistook that I implied so. But sometimes when one's excited, like say purchasing the Mono Lisa, one would be eager to show his friends - just to admire the art piece rather than talking about its value. That's what I was asking, but looks like nothing caught your eye?

BTW, the artwork I'd mentioned in my question, he bought it for his Montreux apartment - I wonder where it ended up after his passing. Perhaps with Mary as you suggested.

Thanks for your attention :)

Hi conundrumme,
Freddie was not into bragging about his possessions. We basically went on self-guided tours of the Garden Lodge and if we particularly
liked a piece of artwork we would just ask him. He never talked value or price. So, since I did not take notes...lol, I unfortunately do not
remember names, history nor meanings of his artwork. Now, if he owned the Mona Lisa, I would probably have remembered..lol
I looked at the page you directed us to and although I think the piece is stunning, I'd be lying if I said I remembered it hanging in his house.
Sorry I don't have more for you about this.Somebody must have cataloged all of his collection, or maybe Mary owns them now.

HaHa Rainbow, Villiers, Smoky, RBoulain, Spongey, CaptainJ,
Thank you for your stories and opinions.

My sister, brother and I ALWAYS imitated our Grandma's Austrian accent behind her back. We would laugh for hours just saying the color "BLECK"
and the fruit snack, "EPPLE SAUCE" We were so evil...LOL

I never heard Freddie imitate an American accent, but I will look it up now for sure.

PJUSA,
I know that my group was planning to go see Madonna at a club called "Webster Hall," but I forget if it was during Freddie's stay in NY
or afterwards. We never went though so it doesn't matter.

Ncw conundrumme,
Are you saying that the "Mona Lisa" actually had mononucleosis (the kissing disease) and was renamed the "Mono Lisa"..
JUST KIDDING..typo's are sometimes very funny..

Or she suffered from an unusually thick monobrow. Da Vinci decided not to include it in the final draft of his masterpiece to save her from embarrassment.

Hi, Thor... BTW.

Villiers,

Watched the China Club interview that you mentioned. Freddie's British accent is definitely toned down...

I love it when he definitively states, "I'm not married to music, I'm married to love." For a guy to admit that during an interview....doesn't get any more endearing!
T
conundrumme,
What a funny GIF.. I love it!

HaHa Dragonfly, So THAT'S why the "Mono Lisa"...LOL

Hi Thundergod - Do not fear, 'Bump above the spam' was to make this thread easily accessible after the first few pages of the forum were spammed.

Shame you missed her while she was playing clubs. What do you personally think about Madonna? Do you think she is talented? Do you find her attractive in any way? Do you think Freddie would like her?
