Hello PJUSA,
I have always liked Madonna's music, but I thought her voice was just a little above average. That being said, when she set out to retrain
her voice with a vocal coach for the movie "Evita", I feel she sounded WELL above average.
Talented?...Yes, the whole package of abilities and instincts that make "Madonna" show her to be a smart and very talented artist.
I think Freddie would have liked her openness, and gay-friendly campiness. And her WARDROBE ?...my God, he would have been so
jealous...LOL

Just had a few questions myself. I apologise if this has been asked before, after quickly reading through 80 pages).

1. What is your favourite Queen song or Freddie solo song, and why ?
2. When you visited Freddie in 1986 and 1991, you stayed I assume in the main house as well as in the Mews -did you try the jacuzzi?- And what was your opinion about Freddie's taste of decorating the place/artwork/colour schemes used. Anything that you thought was a bit over the top or something you disliked?
3. As you described the drug use of Freddie, was he - in your opinion - addicted, or was it really more recreational and he was in full control?. From what I read over the years (and what was mentioned in Phoebe's book) is that he looked he needed it and not just during the weekends especially during his New York and Munich period
4. As Freddie liked to pick up guys during his clubbing days, did he just take you guys on a roll during a night out and he would then take off with the new guy and leave you guys behind? Just curious how Freddie handled this
5. During your going out times with Freddie in New York, was he recognised easily and approached by people wanting autographs? From what I read he could have a pretty anonymous life in New York but I assume the odd fan would tap on his shoulder once in a while. How did Freddie handle that?
6. After your last visit to London (1991), did you speak with Freddie on the phone after that last visit? If so, was it just social talk, or at the end of Freddie's life he wanted to have more in depth talks?
7. How did you hear about Freddie's death. Did you hear it on the news? Or did you get a call from Phoebe? I know it is probably emotional to think back of that day, but how did it effect you personally and what effect did it have on you in the years that passed? (If it is too much of a personal question, feel free not to answer.

PS: I was a good friend of Jim Hutton for many years until he passed away in 2010 (we talked regularly on the phone, by email and I visited him in Carlow,Ireland)

Fun fact.

Freddie Mercury was also a boxer in his younger days.

Thank you.
Nothing really matters in the end.

Always wondered if that was how he got that little scar under his eye. Looks exactly where boxers get cut........

Never noticed the scar, but in his live performances hi did use some boxing moves, like uppercut arm swing. In live aid performance, when he comes out that's how he greets the crowd, as to say, expect to be knocked of your feet.

No, apparently he got the scar under his eye from his sister Kashmira. During a visit home, Freddie teased her and she threw a rock at his face. She talked about it once. She said he was just playing around and she (being very little and sensitive) lashed out for a second. Something about him making fun of her doll lol.

That's very interesting(and funny frankly), Villers!

Pffffft. I have no idea where it is lol. The first time we heard the story was from someone who spoke to Jer at the unveiling of the statue in Switzerland. Then the link to the article of Kash herself talking about it was posted. But that was when I first joined Facebook so... Probably like 2009 lol sorry I dont have the link :(

I did a quick search and found something about it online but I'm looking for the full article for you, CJ. I'll find it tonight when I get home

Bless your heart TRS-Romania,
That's too many questions at once, so I will me you a deal.... I will WORK on the new questions you presented and I'd like you
to WORK on finding the answers to the ones I have previously answered...Fair enough?

2) I did stay in the Mews and the jacuzzi was something to behold. It reminded me of a Roman Emperor's bathhouse. I do not
remember any particular artwork from 25 years ago, but I remember there was a lot of Canary Yellow.

3) New York in the late '70s and early '80s was cocaine city. I have never known anyone physically "addicted" to powdered cocaine
taken intranasally only. Psychological addiction happened to some people, but this was much easier to leave behind. In Freddie's
case as in my group of friend's case, it was successfully used socially. We all knew when to stay away from it in real life. Also,
if one drank too much and started acting drunk, a snort of coke was very sobering. Crack cocaine, freebase cocaine and IV cocaine
never entered into our minds, nor Freddie's.

4) Freddie never once left us for the sake of a trick. When he met somebody he liked, it was usually outside of our time together. When
Freddie took a liking to a fellow bartender from Uncle Charlie's Downtown named Ray. I played matchmaker and gave Ray Freddie's
number (with his permission) Freddie actually "dated" Ray before he ever slept with him and stayed dating for about a month. Since
Ray was a gorgeous, musclebound, bartender, I don't think Freddie could handle the adoration of the crowd toward poor Ray and
dropped him.

6) Freddie said goodbye to us in June of 1991 and did it very gracefully. He did not call me after this and I left him alone as well. His
death could have been the next week or at the end of the year. He did not need our support anymore and as I was informed right here
on this thread, he was under palliative care at the end with pain medication.

7) Lee, Brandon and myself found through the news. When I happened to be in London a few weeks after his death and went to visit
Peter Freestone, I was told more of the final circumstances.

MAKE you a deal.... I can't ME you a deal...LOL

Thor, do you ever regret not dating Freddie? I know you two shared one night together but did you ever want to date him and try to make a relationship out of it? He was obviously attracted to you. Did you ever think of what couldve been?

Also Peter talked about a few times when he had to cover for Freddie in front of lovers. You know, he'd be involved with Bill and want to see Winnie at the same time so Peter had to keep quiet about it as to not rock the boat. He explained in his book about one guy Freddie had been after for months. I think his name was Paul. Well Freddie flew some guy he was dating to London to meet him but (as luck would have it) this was the same night that Paul finally decided to go home with Freddie. Peter was sent to tell the poor guy who just flew in that Freddie had an emergency meeting and sent him on a plane back home while Freddie and Paul waited for him to leave.

In my neighborhood, what Peter did was covering for Freddie and is called "bros before ho's" L O L. It's just what you do for a friend. Did you ever have to cover for him like that or worry that if you did date him that something like that may happen?

Ive done it on quite a few occasions for my bros haha
