Hello once again Thor, I'm yet again engrossed in this wonderful thread! Just reading the comments about interviews of Freddie, I think many of the general public don't realise what a fantastic, dry wit Freddie had. In each and every interview he would say something that would have me in absolute stitches. Even towards the end of his life, his great humour was evident as we can see in the outtakes of videos such as Breakthru and I'm Going Slightly Mad. What an amazing, complex human being this man was. I hope he realised just how loved and admired he was, not just by good friends such as yourselves, but by the millions like me who were never lucky enough to have known or even met him, but who were caught up in his "Kind of magic" through hearing his amazing voice and watching his incredible charisma and stagecraft.

Some say he was a diva at times, but its obvious he was a great guy. You could see how missed he is when you hear Brian and Roger talk about him. Especially Brian, who always brings him up. Even in Interviews that has nothing to do with Queen. Like his interview with his wife Anita. Seems like Freddie is always on his mind.

Did you ever hear about what Paul Prenter did to Freddie, selling his info and pics to The Sun (British tabloid newspaper) in 1985? When did you hear about it and what did you think? Did Freddie ever mention that incident to you? Apparently he had issues with trusting people after that.

Paul Prenter went to the British tabloid The Sun (that paper is as trash as it gets) and sold personal stories and private photos of Freddie for £32,000. The stories were front cover 'news' over several days. This included accounts of Freddie making him a terrified phonecall in the middle of the night over his fear of AIDS, the amount of money he supposedly blew on vodka and cocaine, stories and photos of Freddie's former lovers (he outed Jim Hutton who hadn't told his family yet) and named John Murphy and Tony Bastin as two of Freddie's former lovers who had died.
Both Peter Freestone and Jim Hutton give accounts of this and of Freddie's devastation. Paul apparently tried to contact Freddie to 'explain that he'd been hounded' (like he had a gun held to his head) but Freddie refused to speak to him ever again.This is why Paul Prenter is utterly despised by Freddie's fans.

Ps this was in May 1987. Prenter went back to Ireland and died there of AIDS in August 1991.

Yes, and I also read somewhere that he pretended to have been mugged so that Freddie would give him money. He was a piece of work.
