clarification of Thor Arnold's role in Freddie's life

They still haven't re-added Spread Your Legs - I mean WINGS or It's Late to the setlist, which is what the fans want. But...I'm ok. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Not got my tickets yet

I'm hoping against hope that they may at least bring back one of the two from NOTW and sack off that Glambert/Pink crap.

Freddie maybe thought he couldn't function in one-on-one relationship and then met Jim.The fact that he had such a relationships also depended on his partners,they wanted a relationship on that way whit him,but Jim no.
For me it was proof of how much he loved Jim because he realized that would lose him if he did so,and he didn't wont to lose him.
But these are just my thoughts.

The quote is actually Freddie being positive about Jim as in it was FOR JIM he found a way to make it work where it hadn't before.

Before he'd deal with his need for more, more, more by cheating but discovered he could have the same fulfilment with Jim and a group of good friends on the side. That's how I interpret the interview. Just in case anyone thinks I'm saying he wasn't in love with Jim. It supports that he changed for him which shows his love

Eventually he got around this problem by conducting his Jim Hutton relationship with Joe and Peter around 100% of the time. He told David Wigg in a 1987 interview that it's the only way he could make a relationship work. A relationship with an individual was too much for him to cope with so he had to be surrounded.

It seemed like an almost pathological fear of being alone. I wonder if he had some major abandonment issues. It all fits, amirite?

Yes, glad you've commented, I asked Thor or Lee specifically as I was wondering if Freddie ever talked about it, but interested in everyone's thoughts. I'm curious what it was like for him and what he thought the reasons for this were.

I suppose the way to survive at boarding school (emotionally) was to make sure you had a group of friends. Always a good thing but perhaps it's more of a need if someone is miles away from their parents and at boarding school. I think I read somewhere that he often had to stay at the school, or go to his aunt's during the holidays, because he was too far away from Zanzibar.

I just got word that my family is flying down from Indiana to celebrate the holiday with my brother and I, so I'm pleased as can be. It seems like the family spends less and less time together now that we've moved away, so it's a blessin!
