Hey kokax,
I don't know if Freddie ever saw Grace Jones. He did not speak of her. I did see her
perform once at a short-lived club called "Le Mouche". She had live dobermans and at least
three motorcycles on stage singing "La Vie en Rose" and it was fantastic.

Hi Thor,
This thread has been amazingly fresh for this forum.
My personal question is, would you say Freddie used drugs ocassionally for recreational purposes only, or was it something that he used very frequently?
He always seemed so much in control of himself.
Thanks!

Hello kevinbobbs,
I never saw any addictive behavior in Freddie. He definitely only used substances for
recreation. I think he felt the need to always come up with clever discourse to keep
everyone laughing. The substance made that easier for him. People also need to
remember that the early 80's was a time when cocaine use was considered normal
behavior. Studio 54 had their famous moon with a coke spoon heading toward it. In
other words, cocaine was treated as an "everyone does it" thing and there were very
few stories of it leading to total drug addiction.

I have heard freddie described as having a childlike demeanor in some ways, would you say this is true?
How much did Freddie like nature/the outdoors? Did you ever go for a stroll through Central Park to see spring flowers/trees in bloom, go somewhere to see the beautiful autumn leaves, go for a walk during a snowfall just because it is so beautiful (I know you mentioned that one time he flew a friend of yours to NYC during a bad storm and you went out in the snow later that evening for some "winter fun") All those activities are quite "centering" and relaxing...or was Freddie not really into those particular ways of relaxing?
Hello again smilefairyqueen,
No, I never witnessed a childlike demeanor in the 80's nor during the time he was sick.
False!

Hi Rainbow61,
Well, because of my schedule with school and work, we mostly got together in
the evening/night. That weekend in the snow, I got someone to cover me at work.
so I was free for the entire time. I remember that Freddie did like walking through
the West Village (where I lived). My apartment was on the first floor and I had a
large patio in a small oasis of trees, grass and flowers which was the courtyard.
(Rare in New York City). It was so easy to sit out there and appreciate a small
bit of the outdoors, which Freddie enjoyed. We never did get to Central Park but
we did go to the old World Trade Center buildings which were in a 15 minute
walking distance from my place..

Thank you for answering Thor! I meant childlike demeanor in a cheeky/silly endearing way, not in an immature sense. I think you mentioned going to Fire Island in a previous post. Was that a fun trip?
Hey Thor,
thanks (again) very much for your memories ! Wow..I bet it was fantastic to see Grace Jones with dobermans & motorcycles at Le Mouche! WOW ! ( even if Freddie was not with you :)
I apologize btw for throwing in occasional questions that may seem totally dumb/random or weird ... It's just that somehow I think /hope there could be maybe stuff/ situations/incidents
that have not been told while I hope I am not too intrusive... hm... dunno...very banal, simple things ? Cheers, !

Hey smilefairyqueen,
You would think that Fire Island would be an obvious spot for us
to escape to. It is a gorgeous strip of wonderful beaches with boardwalks
only and no cars as well as one and two level (only) beautiful houses. There is
also a main area with restaurants, clubs and general meeting places.
Finally, of course, the visitors and the home owners were either gay or gay
friendly - even the police!
Our trip to the beach was a much closer, easier to get to beach, well fit for a
day-trip, named Jones Beach. We had ourselves a blast in the water and
picnicking on the sand. Peter Freestone prepared a delicious picnic lunch
for us.

Hi kokax,
I will attempt to answer any question. No one here has asked any dumb
or weird questions....that is, if you dismiss what I called the "armpit wars"
and the almost but avoided "teeth wars"
When it's been years since you have experienced something, it often
helps to remember more details when a question is asked. I have wished
I could answer EVERY question, but I have absolutely NO interest in
misrepresenting Freddie like unfortunately some of those so-called
"biographers" have.

Your place in The Village sounded absolutely lovely! Thanks for that wonderful description and in general for being so gracious. It has been such a joy to read your posts. I was thinking the same thing as Kokax...."Hope Thor is not getting frustrated by these questions that at times seem random or silly." Thanks for being reassuring on that account. You have been such a good sport about responding to all our queries!
I recall Peter Freestone stating in one of his "Ask Phoebe" posts that Freddie had gym equipment in NYC and LA, but never used it himself. I was surprised because I have seen pictures and videos of Freddie where it looked like he had worked out...especially noticeable with his arms. He had better muscle definition than I would expect a non-exerciser to have unless he was blessed with supremely good genes! What do you think?

Hello Rainbow,
Gosh you say the nicest things. Thank you so much.
Freddie bought a complete home gym set-up in New
York. When he was about to leave, he gave his unused
equipment too me. As I had already relocated to San Diego,
I stored it at my sister's house on Long Island. Unfortunately,
when my nephew decided to start working out. He
used all the equipment without asking me, and
eventually, it all disappeared and new heavier
equipment replaced.it. I was very upset, but my
sister said she had no idea he would sell it. This boy is
now on steroids (which he denies) and is a self-centered
asshole. (my sister is a saint however).to deal with him.

@Thor
I'm embarrassed that it seemed like I was wanting to start "teeth wars". I've been over the moon with you joining these boards.

PrimeJive USA,
I don't hold it against you. As I said, it was avoided and your apology was perfect
and welcomed. You're very much ok with me PrimeJiveUSA. Thank you. After all,
I was the one who asked Freddie that stupid question about Dave Clark awareness
of his looks. We are in the same boat my friend!
