No, you don't sound stuffy at all. Constant screaming would be annoying after a while, especially if the crowd drowns out the singing.
I wasn't sure where to sit for the shows. While I thought it would be great to be on the floor, I decided against it because I was worried that either someone really tall would be in front of me or that I would have to stand for the entire show. So I opted for seats on the side and I'm glad I did. There were people seated on the floor several rows back from the stage that were completely blocked by the people standing in front of them. My seats were great, and in all fairness, the crowd did seem to enjoy the show (although the "Love of My Life singalong from the crowd was very weak)
The Montreal crowd this summer was much more lively. Nice balance between standing and sitting and not too much screaming!

In the DVD commentary by Brian and Roger of the 81 Montreal show, they said that Freddie mentioned the bit about moving around a bit because he was frustrated by the cameras for this filmed concert. Seems he and the band felt constricted by the filming process and I think they believed that made the crowd less active.

Did you attend Brian's book signing in Hollywood/sunset yesterday? I'd looked around...didn't see any one with Thor like qualities. .although one fellow looked like Roger. ..all he'd need was dark shades, leg tattoo and a suit (*raspy voice)....hmm. on second thought. ... Guess he'd need a lot.

I think I already mentioned some comments about the Wembley concert.
Remember, I dropped Mick Jagger's name, because he was in the box of seats
next to my group's. So, any seats good enough for Mick would probably be
good enough for us..LOL. By the way at the Montreal concert in '81, Brian May's
parents were sitting right behind us. They looked very English and proper. We
felt they were watching our response to Brian's guitar solos, so we over-did our
clapping, hooting and hollering when he was show-cased...LOL

He was very proud of that concert and seemed to enjoy it very much. He knew it would
be a special event or he wouldn't have invited us at that time. I remember him being in
good spirits throughout that visit. I forget if we were told he was sick at that occasion.
It could have been the next visit that we were given that sad information. If the critics
said he was not equaling his best performances, I would agree with the hindsight comment.
It was just as good if not better than the many previous concerts I witnessed in the early
'80s.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support of what I am writing here.
I would guess that Freddie was about 5ft., 6 inches.but we never
measured him...LOL. He was a smaller package of tremendous vitality, spirit
and talent.

As always, thank you for your insight. I don't recall anything negative said about Freddie in terms of his concert performances during the Magic Tour. In some of the documentaries I've seen, there were a few people who knew him well who happened to comment that they noticed something different, but the comments were not critical at all. If Freddie was indeed diagnosed with AIDS in the spring of 87, it stands to reason that he probably had a gut feeling that something wasn't right during the Magic Tour, which was less than a year before. To me, that makes Freddie's performances during that tour even more remarkable (and heartbreaking)

Maybe he was embarrassed to work out and always did it alone when no-one saw him? There are people like this.
