that I, personally admired most:
1) Lack of "Star attitude" and "Star arrogance" Treating average Joes like me with dignity and with
quality, sincere friendship.
2) Absolute genius in all things musical. Unparalleled stage presence. Dynamic song writing and
vocal reflection of his work.
3) Unsought-after generosity to me, our friends and SO many others.
In short, to borrow a Princess Diana phrase (God rest her soul). He was actually "The People's Rock-star"

Another great question! I can best answer it with one personal story.
Prior to meeting Freddie I was good friends with my neighbors, a
couple named Jim and Jim. They wanted to meet Freddie. So,
Christmas '82 (the leather jacket Christmas) we decided to
celebrate at their residence directly across from mine. Freddie
brought a full case of Moet & Chandon to the party. Things went
very well. As one of the Jim's was a short, studly muscle man,
of course Freddie enjoyed meeting him/them. After that Christmas, we
got together maybe twice more. Well, it turns out that Jim and Jim
wanted Freddie as an exclusive friend for themselves. They tried
several times to invite Freddie to things just with them. They
became kind of distant to me and my friends as they pursued
Freddie and his complete attention. Needless to say, they were
no longer my friends. If Freddie ever accepted an invitation
from them, to this day, I do not know. And If he did, that's fine, I did
not OWN Freddie. By March of '82, there was no further talk of the
two Jims. When my real friends met Freddie, they did not try to cut
me out of the friendship for their own selfish pursuits.
So to answer your question, these "friends" treated me with envy
and jealousy because I knew Freddie and he was my friend.

Yes, I only met the other band members after the many concerts Freddie invited me to.
I NEVER met them in a social setting or ever at Freddie's home in London. So that does
limit my brief encounters with them to late '80-'83 Brian and Roger were cordial and made
a good effort at small-talk with us. And, as I have mentioned before, John was very quiet
but not in a rude way at all.
As far as Mary's first child is concerned, I met the toddler at the Garden Lodge just once.
I think it was the day that Freddy had Jim Hutton install a swing set for him. We all played
for about 1/2 hour. Mary was very polite but not so talkative. Her pride in this first child
was obvious.
I do not know what TV shows or characters were Freddie's favorites.

because I have no idea...LOL

Ha, ha, in London Freddie was not able to go out or even out of the gates of Garden Lodge without being
swamped for attention and autographs. He sent us to Brighton Beach for a day trip one time but did not come
along. I had rented a car (big mistake) and we made our way down to Brighton. I did not even get lost.
On my own, when escorting a Greek paraplegic patient to England. I did get to see the beautiful country-side
that I had never seen in London, at a place called Ayers where a big rehabilitation facility exists. The area was
fantastic! I also saw a different group of Britainers than I had seen in London. Of course, mixing pleasure with work,
I immediately went down to see Freddie for the day before I had to head back. Riding the train was actually fun
and I met a few people that were very interesting.

Did Freddie talk about "fans" much. Could you tell what his attitude was about them? Was he appreciative of them? Apprehensive and a little scared of them? Did he ever relay any stories of fans that he felt were truly nuts? lol

I already mentioned the "give them wardrobe" comment. I asked Freddie once why
he yelled "fuck you" at almost every concert. I asked if he was mad at the crowd for
perhaps not showing enough appreciation. Freddie replied immediately,
"Dahling, they LOVE it."

I love your list Thor, thankyou. I think people 'know' this sort of thing, even when they've never met a person, they pick up whether that person seems genuine or not. I think that is why Freddie is so well liked, genius aside of course.
By the way I support what Villiers said re books by David Evans / David Minns. It seems from what David Evans has written, he was a genuine friend of Freddie's and greatly misses him and also David Minns, who has sadly passed away now.

Thor, thank you! :) As a huge fan of Freddie's since I was a kid in the 70's, I really enjoy this thread. I was lucky enough to see him live twice as a teen, and got to briefly say hello to him before one show. He certainly was an amazing front man. I was so broken hearted when he left us, I truly hope he knew how much he meant to his fans. I want to say thank you for being a true friend to him.
