The Squirelly One,
So far I have not received your private message. Sorry, maybe
try again.

Thor, ^^^THIS! Exactly my point. My father is a lawyer as well and told me to keep my mouth shut about my feelings on Trump as to not rock the boat in my firm. You can imagine how thrilled he was to hear that I was arrested at the rally lol. "Sir... Your daughter is in holding. Will you take the call? " I can still hear his lectures in my sleep lol. I just think we elected a joke. Makes our country look like a joke too. If the man can't handle twitter arguments, how can he run a country?

Sorry, I hear his name and I slide right into a rant. I'll stop now, I promise! Lol

@Thor

Just resent it. I hope it reaches you this time. It wasnt anything of real importance but I was curious.

Thanks

Back to Freddie, other than what a "fool in presidential clothing" Regan was.

You heard Freddie say this?

T
PJUSA,
No, just a paraphrase of what we thought.

Thank you so much SmokyQuartz for your input on this subject.
I say...Good for the two of you!...very refreshing to hear. Maybe
you can give some pointers to our friend PrimeJive USA, it seems
he's not finding his way to friendship with ex's like we have.

Oh, what did I do above, lol!

Here's the reply:

thanks, I think it's just a case of I truly did not want to get back with him, and he was never one for commitment, so it worked. If I hadn't have lost my dad suddenly, he wouldn't have reconnected with me. So it was a lot about circumstance. I think it doesn't work where people can't let go of old stuff or where they still want to get back together. There are some people I'd definitely not want to reconnect with, lol.

I really can't answer your question but thank you for letting me rant on!

Thank you, Thor! I can't get enough of this stuff!

I know Peter has taken a lot of heat from certain quarters for suggesting Freddie was politically conservative but people have to understand the context of the times(80's/90's). Top tax rates before Thatcher were obscenely confiscatory(90%). There was no real discussion of things like "gay marriage".

Thor, thank you for all the information you so graciously share with us. I for one find it very refreshing to hear about your personal views and feelings, and it's a testament to Freddie's personality that he inspired such loyalty in his circle of friends. From what I've read Freddie couldn't imagine himself getting old even before he was diagnosed, but if by some miracle he had survived do you have any ideas on how his personality would have developed?

Aside from everything else I'm loving watching some online friendships grow here on this thread. Thor your genuine, considerate and loving nature is coming over so strongly here - as a man, not just as Freddie's friend and it's so warming to read all of the posts on here. It's very affirming in some way.

In a total tangent, as an Irish man I've always gotten a kick out of the fact that Freddie finally found the companionship and love he needed in one of my fellow countrymen. Silly I know but I like the idea that Jim was a straight shooting, no nonsense kind of guy and that may have been part of what Freddie was after and that's why the relationship worked. Did Freddie ever discuss his ideal partner with you or what he thought he would need for a real relationship to work? And did he blame himself when relationships broke down? I ask this because he talked a lot about how other people let him down badly and hurt him but in layer years he seemed to acknowledge that HE needed to change and not be so demanding. Thanks Thor!

To respond to earlier posts...

Politics is a morass, civil discourse has almost ceased to exist, and anger and mistrust seem to rule the day. Unfortunately both political sides have contributed to this current state of affairs. As for where I stand...there are 1142 days until the next Presidential election and it can't go by fast enough!

And yes, I admit to my fair share of rants about the current administration. "Anguished" best describes how I felt after the election.

So on a Queen related note...When I heard DT use "We Are the Champions" at the convention, I practically levitated from my seat and yelled at him through the TV. It wasn't a pretty sight!

Hi SmokyQuartz,
Thank you for your insight on relationships with ex's.

Thanks for your thoughts and support of this thread PrimeJiveUSA.
