NOTW is cited by other stars, too. Slash and Trent Reznor spring to mind.

A great album.

LOTV,
Thank you for showing me this. I've never read anyone's suicide note before. It makes
you just want to hug him and tell him that inner demons CAN be released with some
time and work. That it is worth attempting to push through all those real/imagined storm
clouds to reach even just a small sunny, somewhat peaceful place.
But, I am sure that Kurt was an infinitely complicated talent whose psyche I could
never truly appreciate or even begin to understand.
I do miss him and his music.

Sorry all, my NURSE just came through

^Hah. Inner Nurse came out, off the clock.

Well, that's opening another can of worms. Kurt's alleged suicide note. There are some of a mind that the last lines were not written by him. (*I'm no forensic cryptographer, but there are SOME similarities and many differences) ...some question the very ability of a man with that much junk in his system being able to even shoot himself.

Another "theory" is that he was already in talks to get a divorce from Courtney (with lawyers etc) and that as someone who stood to benefit far more from widowhood than ex wife status, Courtney had sought someone out to have him "put away" (low brow musician El Duce came out "confessing" she'd offered him 50K to do the job.

The implication being that this "suicide note" doesn't mention anything about suicide until the last two sentences. This theory posits that the letter was likely a letter being written and rewritten to send to the editors of rolling stone etc to pretty much announce his retirement from music. (*he'd been scheduling studio time to cover some LEADBELLY songs on the down low).

The only fault with THAT reasoning is the questionable line "it's better to burn out than to fade away",which COULD imply suicidal reasoning (*but by the same token could just indicate he was burnt out and leaving on top would be better than dragging things out

But that's all for another day and it's very dismal and flogging a dead horse (user)

Many of his musical peers just believe he liked killed himself. I guess it lends itself to the mythology
"Come tonight! Come see the Overbite! Come to Ogre Battle, FIGHT!"

Thank You matt z,
Your information is so valuable. I like your ability to not be preachy on your personal view
and go through much of the various theories without pinpointing ONE as absolute truth.
I am always a bit skeptical of "conspiracy theories" but it is good to be educated on their
existence. Thank you again my friend.
P.S. I am surprised you did not offer your view of the question on page 45 that YOU
covered back on page 1...talk about flogging a dead horse. LOL But, if the picture helped
anyone, it was no sweat on my part (after a little scrutiny of the proof-needer.

Yeah. I read it. I think your sincerity and lack of bullshittitude (creating ridiculous and exaggerated stories) was enough credibility. Doesn't bother me. There's plenty of stuff you've said that no one would have any privilege to. Also plenty of conscious debating that aren't indicative of someone fabricating lies.

I wanted to chime in on the whole bit about some women wanting to make Freddie a hetero through revisionism but eh....people have been trying to appropriate heroes, politicians, inventors, explorers, artists, writers etc into their own camps for centuries.

Even the gay community will come out and say X and Y were gay. Why? Because what they did was so important.

Etc.

Happened with Malcolm X even. A biographer came out suggesting Malcolm was one of the call boys he'd described in third person while growing up as a hood in Detroit/Boston, doing favors for money and driving for a madam. Of course it enraged his family and children

(But it does sound somewhat credible if tied into his legal help that came later) ..who knows.

I've heard the same about Shakespeare....Arabs saying it was a man Shah Espere or something like that.

And look at all the people (countries) that have tried to claim that asshole pirate/marauder Columbus.

Happened to Chaplin at the peak of his appeal, he was labeled a Jew by Germany.

People attempt to appropriate everybody. Hopefully they're not completely nuts and are just fantasy fans with nothing better to do.

Oh, great thread though. It's always interesting.
When things are dull and tedious it's good to come back for a read
"Come tonight! Come see the Overbite! Come to Ogre Battle, FIGHT!"

So, someone - maybe the one who transcribed Kurt's note, maybe someone else - corrected the spelling of "Freddie" from "Freddy".

Not sure if Kurt's original misspelling is significant or not.

Heres a little flashback for you, Thor. I'm sure you've seen it online or even in this thread (I know someone posted a pic on one of the earlier pages but it wouldn't download for me). Looks like a fun bunch. Peter had it in his book but I dont recall the names of everyone else in the photo. Got any memory of this night?

*sorry about the blank post earlier. idk what went wrong but its driving me me nuts lol. it keeps happening*

HaHa Villiers,
Yes, someone else sent this pic to me last week.
OK, In the "Hat" picture, the back four from left to right:
Joe Scardilli - Lee Nolan - Peter Freestone - Me
the front three:
John Murphy - Some guy named Freddie Mercury (who knows?) - Paul Prenter

In the Jacuzzi pic:
Me - John Murphy - that annoying Freddie dude (who keeps getting into the picture) -
not sure who this is but could very well be Bill, his bf from New Jersey
(aka the Hotel Room Wrecker prior to the SNL performance)
