Need for more drums?

Many apologies if this has been covered before, but why is there a need for additional drummer on this and the last few tours?........I guess when Rufus played drums, it was more of a favour from Roger to his son to give him some experience???

Also, why does Roger's drum tech always seem to be beside him at the side of his kit during the show?

Stamina - and of course when RT needs to come out and sing a little.

And Adam Lambert looks like Gary Glitter, and the Glitter Band had 2 drummers.

To some extent I agree, but I do recall Roger said that he had developed arthritis in two of his fingers. Anyway, Tyler adds a lot to the vocal mix.

In fact Tyler and Rufus before him play percussion. Neither sit behind a second drum kit. Having said that both help Roger, but also it gives the band a wider percussive/drum sound than of old.

As for Roger's drum tech. Where would you suggest he goes, he needs to be close enough to see and act on anything going wrong. Neil Peart's drum tech usually sat behind the Bass backline facing the kit, so was hidden from view, but he was doing the same job as Roger's or any other drummers drum tech. The layout of the stage setup Queen use means there is no where from the guy to be hidden close enough and with a clear view.

I Like Roger as a drummer, but for a virtuous drummer watch Neil Peart at his age doing what he does. No offense Roger Fans. I think All those drum machines he used in the 80's and even Innuendo hurt his drumming ability. Instead of growing he regressed.

A little bit unfair I think. Queen tried to keep up with trends and they were machines, look at live stuff and Roger was as energetic as anyone. He is the way he is now simply due to age.. and he is Roger Taylor who has nothing left to prove.

I guess some of you forget that Crystal would also do the same thing even way back for Roger ;P (you can see him behind the kit in Rio, for instance)

You mean RETIRED drummer Neil PEART? I hear he's a great Roger fan.

Watch his last tour. I rest my case! I rather go out like peart did than how Roger is going out. Do you not agree?

Touring with Lambert compared with The Clockwork Angels tour. Let's get real. Peart was Inspired by many drummers, none are named Roger Talyor. Yea I know, Talyor was Pearts favorite drummer the same way Rodgers was Freddie's favorite singer.

I should imagine there is someone called Rodger Talyor somewhere who plays the drums.

Yes indeed and Pete Malandrone will be in direct sight of Brian too for string breakages, guitar changes etc etc.
Dead Daddy Long-legs. I'm still drinking it.

In the same way Prenter was near the piano for encore break coke and blowies.
