I should imagine there is someone called Rodger Talyor somewhere who plays the drums.[/QUOTE]
Ably supported by Neal Pert.

How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four to talk about how much better Neil Peart could've done it

Neil Peart would've given that joke better delivery

Exactly my point, he sits there so close to Roger, as if Roger is in need of something all the time

That’s what the drum tech does; Roger might need his mic stand moving, might want a drink, cymbal stand might come lose, he may break a skin, he may want to change his monitor mix....for all these things and more the tech needs to be ready to react.

I understand the need for a drum tech, but out of curiosity, can you let me know who else has such an attentive drum tech?

Yea, Pearts retired until Rush decide to create a new album full of new songs, while Roger and Brian keep touring with an American Idol singer playing We Will Rock You for the millionth time....he may be retired from touring is Peart, but Geddy said they probably will be creative in the future. Rush fans liked their last album. When was the last time Brian and Roger created new music that Queen fans liked? By the way, Peart played amazing on that last Record. Still waiting for something new from Queen.

Easy there Mike, no one's dissing your beloved Rush, no need to blow a fuse. I quite like Rush as long as they're playing instrumentals. You are fully entitled to the opinion that Queen 2017 are pure crap. It just begs the question why you're not proclaiming that on a Rush forum.

I bet he would. Probably wouldn't have any trouble with the light bulb either.

A lot do, but perhaps are just better at camouflaging!! Roger has certainly always had his drum tech very close at hand from at least late 70s onwards. Even Josh McCrae was in the same position throughout the Freddie Tribute concert in 92.

Here’s a nice little interview/article that touches on his interaction with Crystal:
Techs for bands ALWAYS (if they are any good) keep a close watch on the artist, Crystal did before just check out the live videos he's on all of them, as a drummer you can't walk over to someone if a head breaks or a cymbal cracks or falls, stands can become lose and drums can slip, he may need a drink or the sound may not be right so he needs someone on hand to help, every pro dummer has this type of tech. As for why have extra help out there....why not? it works
