re:

>what are the differences between UK and EU versions??

None - they're both a pile of shit not worthy of the band.

How so, dudeofqueen?

It sucks that some of the songs are edited, but it's a partial soundboard of Queen's last gig - pretty valuable for that reason alone.

I think the worst thing about it is that the inlay is that picture of the helicopter rather than the cool live shot on the back of the CD.

Dysan, re:

The edits are both clumsy and unnecessary. As live albums go, it's about as representative of Queen as "Who's Last" was to The Who. There were better performances available for the band to release but out of either laziness or greed, it was just knocked out in a clumsy hurry.

Whilst on the subject of Live Magic, here's a little present :)

It's a rip of the UK 1986 vinyl: http://wetransfer.com/downloads/dcafb2532a16e4539c73a70187355cd020180302164254/51b37b

Haha nice one! We're through the Live Magic K-hole here.

@dudeofqueen - I do agree, it's impossible not to with 30 years of hindsight, but having heard it before I'd heard other shows and even knew it was edited it was a key album for me and will forever remind me of Christmas '86. Weirdly, the longer versions don't!

Can't disagree with you there.

The biz wanted to cash in on the Magic tour. You can bet your right nut that there weren't too many bands in the 70s and 80s who said "hey, let's release a live album."

And considering how much Queen hated Live Killers, you can also bet your left nut that it wasn't their idea.

Compared to LK it's a dud. Like comparing Bowie's 'David Live' to his 'Stage' - the drama and place in time of DL was absent from S it was just a clinical cold document of a tour. That said, Live Magic has spirit and rocks in a way the overlong Wembley release doesn't seem to.

I think we had a recent thread about it - Had they managed to select a tracklist that didn't duplicate anything off LK (allowing them edits for whatever reason commercial / space etc), I think LM would be held in much higher regard and the pair of them would still be on catalogue.

One Vision
In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited
Seven Seas of Rhye
Tear It Up
A Kind of Magic
Under Pressure
Another One Bites the Dust
Who Wants to Live Forever
I Want to Break Free
Is This the World We Created?
Tutti Frutti
Friends Will Be Friends
Hammer to Fall
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Radio Ga Ga

15 tracks. Done. QPL Coin it in.

Although you can imagine the meltdown in the boardroom of a Queen live release without certain tracks! Hence why we ended up with what we got, no doubt.

Thanks bootLuca, as I suspected, the 2001 Jap remaster is a longer duration than the original Jap release. It's the same length as the UK version and I think it sounds pretty good myself. I was a little confused as to where the 24 bit came to be until I read this online, which goes some way to explain the process - ''When it comes to CD audio, "24-bit" *can* mean that the original recording was captured at a higher bit depth, and that any subsequent processing done at the mastering stage was done in 24-bit, but it still gets down sampled to 16/44''.
