It's 2005. Some guy says he has a complete alternative version of News Of The World, including a live version of Sleeping On The Sidewalk. It's $200. Do you want it? It's all perfect studio quality. I'll tell you, after hearing it just now, I would have gladly paid that. Spread Your Wings might be worth the price alone. Freddie's vocals are extraordinary. Tears of joy inducing extraordinary.
Even in my wildest queendom fan age (becoming QUEENdumb fan age)....I'd have never spent $200 on one albums material.
With book and lp.... $80 tops.
DVD. ..expected.
$200 maybe on a verified (*notice i didn't say CERTIFIED. ...anybody can "certify") SIGNED ALBUM by all members. ....yeah.
But that's about it.
Especially when learning they're basically remixes with alternate takes

Minor bummer, but still bummer: the Queen News of the World 4-pg "newspaper" release is flawed. In the centerfold with the 4 solo headshots - only Brian May's has his bio underneath. The other 3 don't have their bios, as they were in the original - there are only white spaces under their photos. It's included in the 40 Years of Queen book, where at least it's correct. Why is it off in the $150 NOTW box set???
From a Melody Maker interview in Nov 1975:
"John Deacon is hunched behind a desk fingering his way through a proof of the programme which is being prepared for the British tour. He finds fault after fault and takes great pleasure in airing his grievances."
Maybe John was the quality checker in the band.

He truly was their secret weapon.
As a matter of fact, he still is by not participating in all this Queen+ travesty.

Hi. Can someone send me cd2 for free? I know you have spent your hard earned money on it but I can’t be bothered and want it for free. Thanks.

Stop it! Even with game and other media publishers there's a rule : they don't share it on torrents at least until a week has passed since the release date.

I’ve got my box but not opened up the full stuff yet so hadn’t seen this. Sadly this is absolutely no surprise at all: as has been proved with every release of the last x no. of years, they simply do not quality or proof check anything properly :-(

This reminded me of an interview from 1985, where John indicates that he doesn't like expensive box sets. Maybe this release would have also been more reasonably priced, if he was still involved:
As with almost every decision made within Queen, the discussions over Live Aid provoked a row. Deacon is casual about it -- "we've been rowing since the year dot".
"We were doing some filming for the new video, right, and after that there was this enormous row going on between Freddie and Roger. We're doing a boxed set this Christmas of all the albums, right? And they were arguing about whether the new single should be in it. Someone was saying that it has got to be in there because it won't be the complete works if it's not..."
He shakes his head, with a smile. "I couldn't really get involved in that because I thought, well, who's going to buy that? Obviously they'll sell a few to collectors but it's going to be a very expensive item. Forty or fifty quid or something..."

Re-cut of LP is fantastic.
Is it much different from the LPs we all bought back in '77?
The way I see it is it's just a generation higher than what would have been sent to the record plants for cutting.
If I'm wrong, I'm open to correction!
Well, I wasn't around in 1977 so I didn't buy it then ;)
Of course, I have second hand copies (they've been noticeably played) - and the remasters (tampered with and not like original) - but playing this was a lovely experience. What I would have been like if I had been around in '77, who knows :p

The folk who've asked for a share have all stated they're getting the set for xmas, or a little further down the line. The sessions haven't been put on iTunes/Spotify etc, and so there's no harm in them being a little excited and asking to hear it sooner. Telling them to get a life and a job is harsh. I'd have shared privately had I a way of ripping the CD, but my laptop's player is down at the moment. I know guys like Ale and Stu will be getting the set later on, so QPL are not being robbed of cash. For what it's worth, Ale in particular has spent hundreds of hours creating and sharing artwork for live shares posted here, and has shared lots of material too. I wonder how much you've benefited from all the shares on QZ, without people telling you you're a freeloader with no life.

I'm disappointed they're not on Spotify. On Air was there from launch. WWRY and WATC Raw versions are on Spotify as singles, but not the box?
Bowie's latest boxed sets are there also, rarities and all.

Have they replaced the Bowie box with the correct master now?

I've received mybosxet. It's fine but it's too expensive comparing to what it offers. I have the newspaper with the print error
