Thor,

You are right about parking being very expensive. It seems like a common complaint of most convert venues is the nightmare of parking and exiting after a show...and the cost. My younger (cheaper) self would never have wanted to pay for parking. My older (more practical) self thinks it it WELL worth it to pay extra for good parking to eliminate the stress of finding a spot and to be able to leave the concert site in a reasonable amount of time. My husband and I are traveling almost 5 hours to get to the show and I didn't want to sit in the free parking lot for 2 hours waiting to leave.

(The Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut has amazing parking. It is free...always a good thing...and there is plenty of it. The venue is fantastic. Saw Transiberian Orchestra and Queen + AL there a couple years ago.)

I was in a doctor's office the other day when I overheard a patient talking to the receptionist about the BR movie. (It is a small office...you couldn't help but to hear what she said). The patient was extremely enthusiastic about the film and Rami's performance, but what was nice is that after watching the movie she said "of course" I had to go home and watch videos of Freddie. I don't think she knew much, if anything about Freddie before the movie...but she does now!

Oops....Trans-Siberian Orchestra not Transiberian Orchestra!

I just dont think that movie did him Justice to hear all his friends talk its definitely a very talented actor playing a part to me it just not him I watch so many of his interviews and look at so many of his pics with his friends and I'm not feeling that sad lonely guy that that film portrays and he sure as heck wouldnt have to beg anyone to take him back he was bigger than Elvis .That's just my opinion from personal observation I dont know this man only through interviews what friends have said and of course our sweet Peter freestone.

I understand Rainbow...but I meant that they were actually selling these parking spots AS concert tickets. I guess instead of what some places call, partial-view tickets, they are selling NO VIEW tickets which happens to include a parking spot, but no admission into the venue. I had never heard of such an outrageous thing...but then again, this venue is in LA...go figure!

Thor,

I've never heard of that either. I figured you meant something like that, but I kind of got off on a tangent about parking in general. The parking lots at the arena I am going to are only for ticket holders. Do they allow tailgating? That might be the draw...like a college football game.

Donut,

Thanks for sharing the link to the Mail article. I enjoyed looking at new photos of Freddie!

I was surprised to learn that the reason Prenter sold Freddie out to The Sun in 1986 was to get money for AIDS treatments. Why not ask his generous friend for financial help if he needed it???

@DCQueenLuvr

Why should he have asked Freddie at a time they were no longer friends, he had been dropped by Freddie?

From the article:

'Paul was very bitter,' Ray Prenter told MailOnline. 'They let him down and he was hurt. They were very mean.

'He worked for them for years and years and he got very little from them.

'That was when he decided he had to get a few bob for his own treatment.

'So that is why he went with the papers.'

Hi Thor,

Regarding that group photo of you, Lee, and seven others sitting in a row: You are all wearing white, sleeveless shirts...was that by chance or was it orchestrated for the photo? Were you in Freddie's NYC apartment? A long time ago...September 26, 2017 to be exact, you named everyone in the pic so I have that info. You said Freddie was in the back (also looks a lot like Paul Prenter as that person appears to be wearing glasses.) With Freddie in the back, was Paul taking the picture?
D
No view tickets seem a little crazy to me, who would pay money to sit in a parking lot . I can imagine Freddie saying 'they may as well stay at home and listen to the album '

It did cross my mind regarding Paul asking for Freddie's help rather than selling his story to the paper but we don't really know what went on all those years ago with their friendship.

Thor can you remember how you felt the first time you saw Freddie and Queen in concert? Was you blown away by how amazing he was as a front man and his amazing voice and did you think ' I can't believe that is the Freddie I know '. I ask this as so many people say how different Freddie was off the stage.
D
also forgive me if you have said already but what happened to your friend Joe S?

Regarding Prenter's bitterness at earning so little money in the years he worked for Queen: that's on him. As I was pointedly informed in my 20's, "you don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate." Prenter decided to do drugs and snorted a lot of $$$ up his nose, which was his choice to do. Prenter decided to work and continue working for Queen over several years and if he wasn't getting paid enough to do it, then he could have sought other employment.

To go to the press and betray the trust and privacy of someone who is fighting their own illness and disclose info about them and their lovers when they were keeping such things private, was really low IMO. The excuse of "needing to pay for AIDS treatments" is not a valid excuse. Betrayal is betrayal.

Regarding Joe Scardilli: Thor said Joe S. passed, as did his friend, John Murphy. Thor didn't say when other than those friends plus Freddie were gone by the time he left NYC. All died of AIDS.
