Thoughts on Thor Arnold and Lee Nolan's eleven year friendship with Freddie

Hooligan agree with you totally.but they can do no more after this sequel.I have to be honest I dont by the Mary they portray sweet innocent modest young lady that everybody loves. She left home at 15 found a young immigrant Indian parsi that was raised by strict parents who longed for love and acceptance.I grew up in a native American family and very strict parents as well just like he did.And she manipulated him she is a liar cheat and as dishonest as anyone else .She said herself she didnt fall in love for 3 years .That's really when he started to become famous.

Over the course of this thread there have been numerous, and sometimes extremely intense, conversations about Mary. At this point, it seems to be one of those “agree to disagree” topics. No matter what our perspective is, we can all probably acknowledge that Mary meant a lot to Freddie and that he chose to maintain a close relationship with her throughout his life.

As far as a BR sequel….I can’t get upset about something that hasn’t happened yet and probably never will. The here and now is of much greater interest! For example, I read that the Freddie birthday party tickets have sold out already…and that was after they added extra tickets. That means more money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. YEAH! That wonderful joie de vivre of Freddie continues to bring people together and work its magic.

I dont think anyone would disagree with the fact Mary meant alot to him as a great life long friend slash x lover.i just mean This sequel is being strongly talked about and if it happens it wont be like the first because it's all about the $.What I'm continuing to support and not back down from is the fact I hope it gives those three men 2 of them passed away now and one still living the credit they deserve they are the ones that cared for him in the end they changed soiled sheets gave baths helped him eat that's hard work and hard to see your loved one slipping away.If they can show a relationship that died after a few years and completely ignore a man that was someone true love their rock surely they can depict who cared for him in the end on the big screen.

I've always wished I could attend the birthday party. I think it would be such an intensely joyful experience. It's a bonus that Mercury Phoenix Trust benefits.

Mingling with super-enthusiastic Freddie fans, soaking in the beauty of Montreux, the excitement of a birthday party, and the ever jovial Phoebe as host seems like a winning combination. Knowing the money goes to a great cause makes it even better. I would also love to attend. I have to say though, I would enjoy going to Montreux when it is quieter so that I can take it all in without the distraction of so much activity. Sitting near Freddie's statue and looking out on the lake is something I would rather do alone.

Yes it's a captivating place I can see why he liked it so much and why it holds so many peaceful memories.

A while back you mentioned attending a Def Leppard concert with your husband in the early 90's. I don't know if you are still a fan of theirs...but did you know that Def Leppard is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next week? Brian May has the honor of doing the induction as he is a friend of the band. While Brian was in Las Vegas doing the Queen + Adam Lambert shows last September, he went to see Def Leppard who were playing in Vegas at the same time.

Def Leppard also played at the Freddie Tribute Concert in 1992. Joe Elliot was personally contacted by Brian to be part of the show. Joe has said of the experience..."Outside of Def Leppard, it's absolutely my most favourite on stage musical moment EVER!!!...and for that & everything else you ever did, Freddie Mercury, I thank you!!"

I love to hear stories of musicians supporting one another!

Mee too Defleppard is an awesome band so much talent they were so young when they started I think the drummer was 15 or 16.

Villers2, just watched your awesome Jim Hutton video. That story about Freddie staring at Jim when he was very sick just about killed me with how cute it was! Do you have the link to Peter Freestone telling it? I'd love to check it out since this is the first time I've heard of it, but can't find it (I looked through the jimercury blog, but had no luck). I find Freddie extremely smart and interesting, and I wanted to ask one question.

Did Freddie like psychology and talked/commented other people behaviour and psychology behind it?
And was he a philosopher? Did he philosophy the thoughts and etc? Obviously these topics are not very often touched, but just in general:)
