Here’s a recent interview with Phoebe. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0AJWnnNXpn8

There’s some things in here I hadn’t heard before. There are a couple of other people interviewed in the middle, and then the interview with Phoebe resumes. There’s a Prince Andrew story at the end that’s hysterically funny. Also, comments on how Freddie was portrayed in the movie.

Rudi met Freddie in 1982 for the first time. You can find it easily on YouTube, an interview where they spoke about Mack and Freddie said he's a genius.
And One Vision was recorded in 1985.
It still doesn't make 20 years but it's little bit more :)

Galileo1564, thanks for the link to Phoebe's recent interview. I enjoyed it. He is ever so gracious. I like him in the blue flannel. I also like how he mentioned how "Bo Rhap" never captured Freddie's laughter.

We saw Pink in concert earlier tonight. Pink brought her "Beautiful Trauma" tour to my metropolis Fri. night and she has another concert on Sat. night. She was so fabulous. During the concert, Pink paid tribute to gender-nonconforming, "androgynous" (her words) musicians she admired greatly, including Annie Lennox, Prince, David Bowie and of course, Freddie Mercury! Each of their names popped up individually on the large screen. Unfortunately, it happened so fast, I wasn't able to take a photo of Freddie's name due to the brief screen time, or else I would've uploaded it to the thread.

Apparently, Pink recounted on stage how her 7-year-old daughter confessed that she felt "ugly." She was teased at school for being a tomboy and resembling a boy, even though she had long hair. To boost her daughter's self-esteem, Pink brought up the above artists as sources of inspiration, as well as herself as an example.

Besides Aretha Franklin and Lady Gaga, I believe that if Freddie were alive, he may have also collaborated w/Pink. Granted, I highly doubt he would've joined her performing aerial acrobatics and flying on harnesses across a stadium arena! LOL

Shaun I have sent you a pm about something I've seen .

Also, Galileo, thanks for shedding more light on Gaetan Dugas. I always appreciate your science background.

Jo.T I really admire pink , I'd like to see her , she has an amazing voice .
Thank you for making me smile as I have visions of Freddie flying around in a harness doing acrobatics.

Such a,shame about her daughter. Children are aware of themselves so much younger these days .

I don't feel I can watch any programme to do with aids right now as it's to upsetting .

Doughnut, it's a hard subject for me too my uncle died of the same disease so it always is a tough one for me to talk about.I have mixed feelings about alot of the negativity put out there concerning it only being linked to gays in those early years. My state being the way the it was back then it was tough for him I can remember all the whispers and looks when we would be walking down the road. Some idiots would yell nasty remarks out their car windows .He actually went to school with these guys I dont see how he made it.He acted like it didnt bother him but I really wonder sometimes if it did.I wish he could of lived long enough to receive medication maybe he would still be with me.

I've seen this shared today . I told Shaun about it privately as I didn't want to cause further Mary drama .
I doubt she gave that story and if she did her words were probably turned around , at least I hope so as it's pretty awful . I'm not defending her by the way but we know what the press are like and it probably made for a good story at that time .

It's certainly given some food for thought

Hope you had a good nap Thor !

So it seems most of the negativity about Rudi's book was in response to the sensationalized blurb, which I get (probably a marketing move, as has been pointed out). My whole point was simply to not dismiss it out of hand, since Rudi had a legitimate role in Queen history and almost certainly has interesting stories to share.

Thor, no offense was meant to you, and I hope we're ok (perhaps I too should have taken a nap before responding quite so harshly).
K
Dustin, thanks for sharing. I can't make out more than the headline, but yikes that doesn't make Mary look good to say the least.

Is that article a new article
C
I hate to say it but she may not of said it in those words She just wanted him out period because it was her house. It had nothing to do with her children.I dont know about the article. She raised her children in Freddie's home everyone knew he died of AIDS so I doubt she said that.Evedybody knows I wouldnt stand up for her but this time I dont think It went down like that.

Kaola I also feel the book by Rudi will be interesting .From what I can gather he started becoming involved with queen videos from 1985 onwards. The turpeodo twins , he being one half , filmed the 'one vision ,' documentary in 1985 and Rudi did the last interview in 1987.
I do feel the b!urb has been done that way to sell the book
I heard that Rudi is also making another documentary .

Chwvyman for once I agree and I'm not a Mary fan at all . I've no idea where this article has sprung from !
