Yes it was a long road to accepting myself and even longer one for my family to accept me but I'm alive and happy and I created my own family out of my friends who knew my sexuality and didn't care. I really believe they saved my life. I can't imagine having to deal with those issues back when Freddie was around. With the added weight of having religious parents and a band on your shoulders that would also be affected if you came out. My heart aches for him. But I'm glad he had friends of his own to lean on. That's actually exactly why I joined this forum. To talk to Thor because he may not know the impact he had on Freddie's life. Being gay at any point in time can be lonely. You never know who to trust. But being gay in the 70s and 80s? As a rockstar? Your guard has to be up 24/7. And he managed to find people like Thor and Lee. That's great.

Dustin that is interesting, I wonder what the documentary was ?
Chevyman ..sorry Adam doesn't do it for me lol . There is no one like Freddie but I guess Adam is doing good for a generation of new fans and older ones who still want to see Brain and Roger in action and enjoy the music. I showed my 11 year old a video of Adam singing and asked her opinion as I thought it would be interesting what she would say seeing as she knows neither that well. She said Freddie ....that's my girl lol . I didn't put her under any pressure.....promise lol
Emdee I'm being teased left ,right and centre on Queen/Freddie groups as lots of fans are in the US and have seen it......frustrationing
Freddienotfreddy what was it that left you with the impression that there is no hiding of Freddie's sexuality or are you referring to Adam.
Doughnut, I’m in the states and missed the special as well.......but Adam does not do it for me either. He is good and is talented, but I agree with John Deacon and Freddie’s good friend Dave Clark......Freddie IS Queen.
Per Dave, they should have quit Queen and moved onto solo projects and produce....but Queen was “the job”
I understand the wish to continue but it’s the new generation that they are obtaining, which is good because they are bringing real music back in that regard. But Freddie will always be Queen to me.
Doughnut that Peter Freestone interview was in an article. Someone posted a photo of it on Facebook a few months ago. I wish I had saved the photo
Charlie's boy,
I agree with everything that you have said in your last several posts...sorry, I was a little behind in my comments.

Once you all have seen the Queen + Adam Lambert special, I think many will have to agree that although no Freddie, he is doing a terrific job and is introducing the younger generation to the Wonders of Queen and Freddie. I applaud this. This is a good thing.
Thor
I can just imagine the pleased look on his face when he returned, thinking how proud he was to have gone out and bought cologne without Peter's help...bless him. These stories make him so lovable.
Doughnut,
What I was surprised about was that Queen is seen almost embracing Adam's sexuality, as well it should be .Also, during all the clips of Rami Malek, he calls Freddie a "gay man" no bisexuality or confused sexuality mentioned at all. I think it is a presentation well worth viewing.
Many talented people, in all fields, happen to be gay - is that not obvious? Yes I would assume it is obvious and it shouldn't be that they are any different to someone who happens to be straight .
However as I said earlier, Adam was already known as a gay man when he joined Queen so they couldn't hide it.
CharliesBoy . It must have been hard for Freddie, very hard especially having to have a woman on his arm for public events. That is why Jim's story has really struck me as he was the one who had to walk behind. I hate the thought of that although he seemed to accept that was how it had to be. He seemed to be a laid back guy and freddie was lucky to have found him .
Peter said Freddie came out at least twice and no one picked up on it.

Doughnut, Thanks for your input .When I meet someone I just look at the person's personality and how they treat a person.I could care less about anything else.Im a little strange I guess.I really always felt I didnt belong anywhere.Even my girlfriend in high school didnt understand me.We would do okay for a while and then I would get a feeling of needing a guy and there I would go.It was tough for me and her.She didnt understand because she was gay.Im thankful the guy I'm married to was able to handle me all these years it's been tough for him too.
Charles,I'm glad you have A strong support in your friends that means everything.
Charlies boy...if you happen to remember the article do let me know . It's like finding a needle in a hay stack lol
LG ...I don't feel that Freddie was Queen , even Freddie never believed that, he always said he was just the lead singer and 1/4 of the band. I just don't enjoy Adams voice the same as Freddie's . It may be because I have been listening to a lot of queen lately so hearing someone else sing is just weird. This doesn't just apply to Queen, I often find I'm not keen when an artist or groups song is sung by someone else, the exception here is George Michael as he sung 'Somebody to Love' amazing.

Charlies boy, I sympathize with your story, but can you please not say that bisexuality is not real. I actually find it a little offensive.

Doughnut, I agree and understand Freddie indicated he was 1/4 of Queen and he’s correct in saying that as they were equally talented, However I was repeating John Deacon and Dave Clark’s words.
On the other by, Lambert is good but I grew up with Freddie Mercury singing for Queen and I am biased to the point of no return.
I would like to see Queen with AL but cannot get anyone to go with me because they cannot get past AL
Feel free to DM me but sorry it's not.
Oh jesus christ if I hear one more person talk about bi eraser I'm going to puke.
Bisexuality is not a thing. It's a stepping stone to your real sexuality. I've known 14 bi people throughout. All turned out to be gay. But yes please keep this crap to private messages.
