Oh Doughnut, I feel for you "The most adorable part of Freddie for me was the way he used his hands when he spoke. So expressive. I sometimes watch his interviews just to watch his hands lol. Does this sound weird lol . " This does not sound weird :)))).

In the interview with Rudi (1982) Freddie was speaking about "visual theatrics" and using his hands (fortunately free from the cigaret or something else at that moment). I have been watching for this moment again and again.

When you read anything, do you see a picture of he thing/person/place/situation whatever in your head ?

I understand from people I've spoken to about it that this is the norm, but I don't do that! If I try really hard I can summon up a sketchy picture in my head of what someone or place is meant to look like but it's totally unnatural to me and is hard work.

Is there anyone else like me in jail aspect?

My Dad says e doesn't know how I enjoy a book if I don't picture it, but I don't know an different.

I totally lack imagination!

So,. Straw poll folks! Do you naturally envision what you are reading ??

I usually imagine things, places, people when I'm reading about them. And I always thought it was the same for everyone. But I accidentally watched this video some time ago, and it turns out not everyone is able to do this! It was really mind-blowing to learn this, and to watch how the girl in the video describes the process of drawing (she's an artist who can't see pictures in her head!)

RussiaLand thank you I'm going to check that link out via my laptop. Should be interesting! I sometimes wonder if there's something wrong with me! Don't all shout out at once! LOL !

I'm a bit of an artist, too I can draw and paint.

Ooh, I've just been approved to join! :-D

Yes,please Thor check in and tell us you are all doing OK.
F
OMG ! Thank you RussuaLand!

Now I know the name for what
I have re my lack of imagination! Aphantasia!

I'm not alone in the world.

It's still disappointing that I can't visualise things I read etc. but at least now I know what the issue is!!

Thanks, matey!

freddiedarling can you not imagine what characters may look like when reading a book? Is you mind just blank ?
F
Doughnut, it's just a blank unless I really try hard. Sometimes I cheat and think of them (I won't say"imagine" that would be too strong a word for it) them as an actor or actress.

It's too long winded for me to bother to try to conjur up the images it'd take forever to read if I tried.

I'm used to this 'handicap' it's like colour blindness. I don't know any different.
