Well, I've only tried self-publishing myself, because I like full control. It does work, you can make money from it, which surprised me.
I have a few friends who went to "real" publishers. Not only did they have to do all their own painstaking editing over and over, AND their own publicity, they were badly ripped off.
All they earned from it was a publisher's advance, around £200 and the rest of the earnings went straight into the pocket of the publisher, despite them reaching the top of the Amazon charts. So you have to watch out for that. Maybe contact others who have written Queen books and probe them to see what they earned from theirs.
I've only used Amazon KDP for Kindle and Createspace for paperbacks. It's a faff lining up the margins etc but the product is good enough quality.

Why can't we all just start our own thread....and keep hanging out......it could be like..."For the Love of Freddie"???.......it was just so Wonderful talking about Freddie w/other Freddie Lovers n Admirers!!! My husband and family are sick of me talking about Freddie.....and once the movie and book hit....there will be SO MUCH MORE TO DISCUSS N REMINESCE ABOUT!!! .....We are like a virtual Freddie Family!!! I don't want to loose you guys!!

Thor, Lee.... it's been much appreciated to have heard you two relate stories and info about your exceptionally famous friend.
I'm glad you've kept the chats respectful. I'm certain you two can make a very pleasing and enjoyable book of remembrances. (*I DO hope it is available as a physical book. ..i do know that publishing can get costly)
Considering the wealth of info and particularly EXCLUSIVE photos....i have no doubt you'd be able to secure credible backing if necessary. Might wanna peruse a book store and guesstimate what publisher you'd like to go with.
Though I'm not a huge fan of hers. .. I'd recently purchased a book on Ava Gardner that wasn't very verbose, but focused on her glamour, appearance, with quotes and a general bit of references. The reason i mention it is because the photography and reproduction is very stunning. (*Although these are the work of mgm photographers for most)
Also. It seemed to have been published by some young collegiate "kids" so i can imagine it's possible in every way. I hope you two know of someone in publishing that could assist you without trying to fleece you.
May all the good graces be with you guys. It's understandable that you'd have to "save something for the book" AND to concentrate thoroughly and Thorly on the book itself.
Thank you for your generous gift of these tidbits and witticisms. I hope the project is a success. You two have a perspective that could not only shed light on his personality, but also clear up those dodgy myths ahs creations of less respectable writers.
Not certain what i could offer to the project. I've done artwork before. ..however in the general conversations and such...i hope I'm welcome in the loop.
Do keep us posted if you ever do an in-store etc.
